Private Equity Firms Buying Pest Control Companies

19 firms profiled · Updated October 27, 2026

Pest control is one of the most consistent businesses in home and commercial services, and private equity has noticed. Customers pay for regular treatments under service plans, termite contracts often renew every year, and the work continues through any economy. Large national companies have bought regional operators for decades, and platforms backed by private equity have now joined them as active buyers.

Buyers value pest control companies largely on recurring revenue. They will want to know how many customers are on a recurring plan, how many cancel each year, the split between residential and commercial work, and how much revenue comes from termite renewals, mosquito programs, wildlife work or one-time services. Commercial accounts such as restaurants, warehouses and healthcare facilities are prized for their stability and for the inspections they are required to have.

Diligence usually covers route density, technician productivity and turnover, licensing for the company and its applicators, compliance with state pesticide rules, and any open termite damage claims or warranties. Buyers also look at how customers are won, whether through door-to-door sales, online marketing or referrals, and what it costs to win each one. A company with dense routes and low cancellation rates is worth noticeably more than one with scattered customers.

Most of the buyers below already own a pest control or wider home services platform, so a local company will usually join as an add-on, often keeping its name in its home market. Owners should ask how the buyer handles brand, technician pay and route changes, whether the price includes a payment tied to customer retention, and what happens to the termite warranties and contracts already on the books.

Owners should also think about the people who make the business run. A strong service manager or office manager can carry a lot of customer goodwill, and buyers will want to know whether they plan to stay.

Greymont is paid by buyers, never by owners. Greymont can help you compare these buyers on what matters to a pest control owner: route density, brand, team and how they treat recurring revenue.
