What Riata Capital Group buys
Riata Capital Group is a Dallas private equity firm that formally launched in 2015, led by partners whose earlier firms date back to 1999. It invests in three areas. In business services it looks at managed IT and managed security providers, government technology, governance and compliance services, and other outsourced services. In consumer it looks at residential, beauty and personal care, health and wellness, automotive aftermarket and youth enrichment services. In healthcare it looks at outsourced services for payers and providers, healthcare IT and pharma services.
The firm puts $25 million to $150 million of equity into companies with $5 million to $30 million of EBITDA, or enterprise values of roughly $25 million to $300 million. It does recapitalizations, buyouts, carve-outs, CEO-led buy-and-builds and growth investments, and it will take control or non-control positions. Its second fund closed at $285 million in May 2024. A company below Riata's size floor is most likely to meet it as an add-on to COEO Solutions, AEG Vision or Salon Republic.

Greymont’s take
How Riata Capital Group fits a seller
Riata suits founders of profitable service businesses with at least $5 million of EBITDA who want to sell a majority stake and keep a real role, or who want growth capital without giving up control. Its recent platform deals were recapitalizations done with the people who built the company: COEO Solutions in August 2025 with its founder and president, and Greenix in December 2020 with its chairman and CEO. Riata then pays for add-ons. COEO bought S-NET and NetWolves within a year, and Greenix completed five add-ons before Riata sold it to Gridiron Capital in July 2025, about four and a half years after investing.
Owners of a managed IT, network or security provider below Riata's size floor should see COEO as a likely buyer. Two questions worth asking: which fund the money comes from, and how long Riata expects to hold the company before a sale.
Questions owners ask
What size company does Riata Capital Group invest in?
Riata looks for companies with $5 million to $30 million of EBITDA and enterprise values of about $25 million to $300 million. It typically puts $25 million to $150 million of equity into each company.
Does Riata buy managed IT or managed security providers?
Yes. MSPs and managed security providers are named targets in its business services sector. It recapitalized COEO Solutions, a managed network and communications provider, in August 2025, and COEO then added S-NET Communications in May 2026 and NetWolves in August 2026.
Will Riata invest without taking control?
Its criteria list both control and non-control investments, including growth capital, along with recapitalizations, buyouts, carve-outs and CEO-led buy-and-builds. It says it uses flexible capital structures to fit what sellers need.
How long does Riata usually hold a company?
Several years, based on its recent exits. It recapitalized Greenix Pest Control in December 2020 and sold it to Gridiron Capital in July 2025, after households served and revenue had each grown by more than 150%.
