What Corbel Capital Partners buys
Corbel Capital Partners is a Los Angeles firm, founded in 2013, that manages more than $1 billion and invests in lower middle market companies through funds licensed by the Small Business Administration and a fund for special situations. It can provide debt or equity, and this profile focuses on its equity work: majority and minority recapitalizations, growth capital, buyouts of partners, and deals led by independent sponsors. For healthy companies it looks for less than $20 million of EBITDA and less than $100 million of revenue, and it typically invests $10 million to $35 million. It also backs companies that earned $5 million to $20 million of EBITDA before a temporary setback.
Its newest equity fund, CEP III, closed in October 2024 with more than $200 million and targets equity checks of $10 million to $25 million. Industries are broad, from software and specialty manufacturing to healthcare, consumer brands and aerospace. Owners often meet Corbel through an independent sponsor, as in the August 2026 Executive Exteriors deal, or directly through a recapitalization like IKI Manufacturing in February 2026.

Greymont’s take
How Corbel Capital Partners fits a seller
Corbel suits founders and families who want to take cash out of the business without always giving up control, or who need flexible capital a bank will not provide. Because it can mix debt, preferred equity and common equity, it can structure a partial sale, a dividend recapitalization or the buyout of a departing partner. It often invests next to independent sponsors, so an owner selling to a sponsor-led group may find Corbel supplying much of the money. In the Executive Exteriors deal the founder kept a significant stake and stayed on as CEO.
Owners should ask whether Corbel's money would come as equity, debt or a mix, and what that means for control, interest costs and who decides on a future sale. They should also ask how much of the company they keep after the recapitalization.
Questions owners ask
Does Corbel Capital Partners buy companies or only lend to them?
Both. It completed a majority recapitalization of IKI Manufacturing in February 2026 and made an equity investment in an aircraft component repair company in May 2025, while some deals, such as Aegis Sciences in June 2025, were debt only.
What size company does Corbel invest in?
For healthy companies it looks for under $20 million of EBITDA and under $100 million of revenue, with typical investments of $10 million to $35 million. Its CEP III fund targets equity checks of $10 million to $25 million.
Does Corbel work with independent sponsors?
Yes. Financing independent sponsor deals is one of its listed transaction types, and in August 2026 it invested in Texas roofing company Executive Exteriors alongside independent sponsor Sea Pine Equity Partners.
