What The Riverside Company buys
The Riverside Company, founded in New York in 1988, invests only at the smaller end of the middle market and counts more than 1,100 investments, with over 140 companies in its current portfolios worldwide. In North America it buys control through Riverside Micro-Cap, for companies with up to $10 million of EBITDA, and Riverside Capital Appreciation, for $10 million to $35 million of EBITDA. Riverside Value buys businesses in special situations with $75 million or more of revenue. Two non-control arms, Riverside Strategic Capital and Riverside Acceleration Capital, make minority investments and growth financings, the latter for software companies.
Riverside grows its companies by buy-and-build and posts an add-on wish list for many platforms. Logically wants managed IT and security providers with as little as $2 million to $3 million of revenue, CMIT Solutions wants non-franchised MSPs with up to $2 million of EBITDA, and T3 Services Group, Certified Collision Group, Relay Fire and Safety and SAFEbuilt also list the add-ons they want. For a small owner, joining one of these platforms is the likeliest route.

Greymont’s take
How The Riverside Company fits a seller
Riverside suits owners who want a buyer that closes deals often and may already own a platform in their field. Its add-on criteria are unusually specific: managed IT and security providers can go to Logically or CMIT Solutions, residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies to T3 Services Group, businesses serving collision shops to Certified Collision Group, and fire and life safety contractors with recurring inspection work to Relay Fire and Safety. Riverside also sells what it builds, as it did with CertaSite, Performance Systems Integration and IronEdge in 2025 and 2026.
Because Riverside runs several strategies, an owner should first ask which one would invest, since a Strategic Capital or Acceleration Capital deal is a minority stake or growth financing, not a sale of control. Owners should also ask how the platform plans to integrate their team and brand after closing.
Questions owners ask
Does Riverside buy managed IT service providers?
Yes. Its portfolio company Logically seeks managed IT and managed security providers serving smaller businesses with as little as $2 million to $3 million of revenue, and CMIT Solutions is looking for non-franchised MSPs with up to $2 million of EBITDA. Riverside exited IronEdge, another MSP platform, in April 2026.
What is the smallest company Riverside will look at?
Riverside says it considers deals from under $1 million to more than $400 million of enterprise value. Riverside Micro-Cap targets North American platforms with less than $10 million of EBITDA, and add-ons to existing platforms can be much smaller, such as the MSPs Logically is seeking.
Does Riverside take minority stakes?
Yes, through two flexible capital arms. Riverside Strategic Capital makes minority investments in U.S., Canadian and European companies with $5 million or more of EBITDA, and Riverside Acceleration Capital provides growth capital to software companies with $3 million to $15 million of recurring revenue.
Does Riverside invest in collision repair?
In January 2026 Riverside invested in Certified Collision Group, a membership network for independent collision repair shops in the U.S. and Canada. Its add-on criteria seek software, service and network businesses that support collision repair and other auto service operators.
