What Thompson Street Capital Partners buys
Thompson Street Capital Partners is a St. Louis private equity firm, started in 2000, that manages about $4.5 billion and focuses on founder-led and family-owned companies. It invests in three areas: life sciences and healthcare, software and technology, and business and consumer services and products. The third group covers franchisors, testing, inspection and facility services, managed services and consumer services that people cannot put off, and its technology themes include IT services firms. It wants asset-light businesses with high margins, predictable revenue and a leading spot in a niche.
Its target range is $50 million to $500 million of enterprise value. Its sixth fund, closed above $1.5 billion in 2022, was built for equity checks of $50 million to $250 million in companies with $5 million to $50 million of EBITDA. Deals include buyouts, recapitalizations, carve-outs and take-privates. Smaller owners mostly meet the firm through add-ons: PestCo Holdings and ATIS, its elevator inspection platform, have each bought several local companies since 2025.

Greymont’s take
How Thompson Street Capital Partners fits a seller
Thompson Street fits founders of profitable, asset-light companies who want a control partner with a long add-on habit. In pest control it is one of the busiest buyers: PestCo Holdings announced ten local acquisitions between March 2025 and June 2026, from Washington and Arizona to Illinois and New Jersey, many of them asset purchases. ATIS has done the same in elevator inspection. A smaller pest control or inspection company is more likely to sell to one of these platforms than to the firm itself.
For larger companies, the firm has bought founder-built businesses such as Karpel and Bubbakoo's Burritos. It sometimes sells only part of a company, as with Isto Biologics, and it has used continuation funds to keep holding companies such as Gurobi. Owners should ask how long the firm plans to hold, how much equity they would roll, and who would buy the business next.
Questions owners ask
Does Thompson Street buy pest control companies?
Yes, through its platform PestCo Holdings. PestCo announced ten add-on acquisitions from March 2025 to June 2026, including Garella Pest Services in Illinois, Southwest Exterminating in Houston, Long Pest Control in Washington and Arrow Pest Control in New Jersey, often buying the assets of the local company.
What size companies does Thompson Street target?
Its strategy page targets companies with $50 million to $500 million of enterprise value. Its sixth fund was built for equity investments of $50 million to $250 million in companies with $5 million to $50 million of EBITDA. Smaller companies usually join one of its platforms as an add-on.
Does Thompson Street invest in IT services?
Managed IT services is one of the themes it lists, and it owns BCM One, a New York provider of managed network, cloud, security and communications services. BCM One completed its ninth add-on acquisition under Thompson Street in 2023.
