What Concentric Equity Partners buys

Concentric Equity Partners is the Chicago direct investing arm of Financial Investments Corporation, the Steans family office, which reports more than $2 billion of investment commitments. Because it invests family money rather than a fund with a set end date, it says it can be flexible on timing, structure and size and can hold for the long term. It has done management buyouts, leveraged buyouts, and majority and minority deals in business and consumer services, tech-enabled services, value-added distribution, niche manufacturing, banks and insurance services. It avoids turnarounds, start-ups and businesses with heavy technology risk.

Much of its recent work is in local services: HVAC and plumbing, pest control, fire and life safety, pools, paving, waterproofing and solid waste, where it partners with Summer Street Capital Partners. New platforms in 2026 were Pollan Paving in Memphis and Aleysian, a Chicago Salesforce consulting firm. It publishes no revenue or EBITDA range. Smaller owners may meet it through platforms such as Leap Partners, which buys HVAC and plumbing firms in the Southeast, or RapidFire, which targets family-owned fire and life safety businesses.

Greymont’s take

How Concentric Equity Partners fits a seller

Concentric suits the owner of a profitable services business who wants a partner without a fund deadline and may want to keep a meaningful stake. In the January 2026 Pollan Paving recapitalization, the owner kept a significant share and kept running the company with his vice president, while Concentric added an industry veteran to the board. The firm also builds platforms with operators it backs, such as Leap Partners in HVAC and plumbing and RapidFire in fire and life safety, so a smaller owner may end up selling to one of those. Holds can be long: Pure's Food has been in the portfolio since 2016 and Solution Works since 2015. An owner should ask how long Concentric expects to hold, whether it would bring in a co-investor as it did with Summer Street in waste, and how a later sale would be decided.

Questions owners ask

Does Concentric Equity Partners buy waste and environmental services companies?

Yes. With Summer Street Capital Partners it built Coastal Waste & Recycling, sold in June 2023, and Frontier Waste Solutions in Texas, sold to GFL Environmental in April 2026. Its current waste holding is Municipal Waste Collective in Manitoba and Alberta, added in November 2024.

Does Concentric take minority stakes or require control?

Its investment criteria say it has used management buyouts, leveraged buyouts, and both majority and minority structures, and that it is flexible on timing, structure and size. In the Pollan Paving deal the owner kept a significant ownership stake.

What kinds of companies does Concentric avoid?

Its criteria rule out turnarounds, start-ups and businesses with substantial technology risk. It looks for a proven management team willing to invest its own money, a record of ethical business practices, and a history of profits.

Where does Concentric's capital come from?

It is the direct investing arm of Financial Investments Corporation, a Chicago family office that Harrison and Jennifer Steans started in 1994. The firm says investing its own capital lets it take a long-term approach when needed.
