What Traverse Pointe Partners buys

Traverse Pointe Partners is a Chicago private equity firm that buys controlling stakes in lower middle market companies based in North America. Its criteria call for revenue that is usually above $10 million and EBITDA of up to $7 million, and it will look at turnarounds that are not yet profitable if revenue or assets are solid. Its stated areas of experience are business services, manufacturing, consumer products, value-added distribution and healthcare. Its active companies today are a childcare chain in Arizona and Florida, two behavioral health providers, and an IT managed services firm for nursing homes and senior living operators.

The firm works on generational transitions in family businesses, recapitalizations where the owner keeps a meaningful stake, industry roll-ups and corporate divestitures, and it prefers that current owners or managers invest alongside it. It has made six or seven platform investments since its first deals in 2016 and 2017 and grows them with small add-ons, so a small childcare, behavioral health or healthcare IT business could also meet the firm as an add-on to a current holding.

Greymont’s take

How Traverse Pointe Partners fits a seller

Traverse Pointe fits the owner of a smaller family-run company who wants to step back but whose managers cannot afford to buy the business. The firm says it sets up a board around each company and offers extra capital for add-ons after closing. Its record shows long holds and steady add-ons: Small Miracles, bought in 2019, has grown to 20 centers through a string of small acquisitions, and Greater Midwest Urgent Cares went from six to ten sites before its sale to Bon Secours Mercy Health in April 2025, nearly four years after the firm invested.

Because it is a small team with a handful of companies, an owner should ask how the deal will be financed, whether the firm expects the seller to roll over part of the equity, and who will run the company day to day after closing.

Questions owners ask

What size company does Traverse Pointe look for?

Its investment criteria call for revenue that is typically above $10 million and EBITDA of up to $7 million. For turnarounds and special situations it does not require the company to be profitable, but it prefers strong revenue or assets.

Does Traverse Pointe buy healthcare and behavioral health businesses?

Yes. It bought Soma Therapy, a six-location outpatient mental health provider in Wichita, in April 2025, and its Scottsdale addiction treatment company The Hope House added Windward Way Recovery in Newport Beach, California, in July 2025.

Can the owner keep a stake after selling to Traverse Pointe?

Its criteria say it prefers deals where current owners or managers invest alongside the firm, and it offers recapitalizations that let an owner take cash out while keeping a meaningful share of the business.

Does Traverse Pointe own an IT services company?

Yes. Integrated Health Systems, an Overland Park, Kansas IT support provider for skilled nursing, assisted living and home health operators, has been in the portfolio since December 2016 and bought ProviNET Solutions in August 2025.
