What RFE Investment Partners buys
RFE Investment Partners is a Westport, Connecticut private equity firm founded in 1979 that has stayed with small buyouts for more than four decades. It takes control of U.S. companies with less than $100 million of revenue and $3 million to $15 million of EBITDA, and it is now investing from its ninth fund, with more than $800 million under management. It prefers asset-light service businesses that lead a fragmented local or regional market, in three areas: residential and facility services, outsourced and professional services, and sustainability. It counts more than 85 platform buyouts and more than 200 add-ons.
Each platform makes three or more acquisitions on average, so RFE buys small companies often. LaunchPad Home Group has bought well over a dozen home inspection firms since 2023, BryteBridge keeps adding nonprofit compliance and accounting firms, and NuView, launched in December 2025, brings four managed IT and cybersecurity firms together. RFE says it keeps debt light early on so managers can spend on growth. Owners below its EBITDA floor are most likely to meet RFE through one of these platforms.

Greymont’s take
How RFE Investment Partners fits a seller
RFE fits owners of service businesses who want to join or anchor a roll-up. If you run a home inspection firm, a nonprofit accounting or compliance practice, a PEO, a managed IT shop or a yard waste recycler, RFE already owns a platform that buys companies like yours. Founders often stay on: the owner of RJ Home Inspections joined LaunchPad's leadership team, and LaunchPad says the firms it buys keep their local brands.
Selling to RFE usually means giving up control, because it makes control investments, and joining a company that is growing quickly through acquisitions. RFE is a fund investor that sells its companies, as it did with PureRed in February 2025, so an owner who keeps equity should ask how long RFE expects to hold the platform and who the likely next buyer is. It is also worth asking how much of the integration work, such as systems and back office, will change day to day.
Questions owners ask
What size company does RFE Investment Partners buy?
RFE makes control investments in U.S. companies with revenue under $100 million and EBITDA between $3 million and $15 million, and it is currently investing from its ninth fund.
Does RFE buy home inspection companies?
Yes. Its LaunchPad Home Group platform buys home inspection firms across the country. In 2026 alone it added RJ Home Inspections, Sherwood Inspection Services, Top Choice Inspectors, Pro-Spect, Key Inspection Services and Top to Bottom Services.
Does RFE invest in IT services or environmental companies?
Yes. NuView, launched in December 2025 with RFE backing, combines four managed IT and cybersecurity firms. Veransa, another current holding, collects yard and wood waste in Florida and turns it into compost, soils and mulch.
How long has RFE been investing?
RFE was founded in 1979 and says it has completed more than 85 platform buyouts and more than 200 add-on acquisitions in the lower middle market since then.
