What Summit Park buys
Summit Park is a Charlotte, North Carolina private equity firm, founded in 2006, that makes control investments in lower middle market services and products companies. On the services side it targets professional services, commercial and industrial services, and consumer and residential services. On the products side it targets manufacturing, value-added distribution and consumer products. Its current search themes include critical power and electrical services; septic, plumbing and grease trap services; water mitigation and restoration; overhead door and dock services; test and measurement; specialty distribution; and bakery manufacturing.
Summit Park looks for companies with $20 million to $150 million of revenue and $4 million to $15 million of EBITDA, with high gross margins and recurring or repeat demand. It says it has deployed more than $2.3 billion across 60+ investments through four institutional funds, and most of its recent deals are add-ons. A smaller owner is most likely to meet the firm through a platform that is actively buying, such as StableDry, Michelli, Exacta, Curion, Hylaine, DX Electric or Freedom Electronics.

Greymont’s take
How Summit Park fits a seller
Summit Park suits founders selling for the first time who want to keep a stake and stay involved. The firm says 82% of its founders keep equity after closing, and it is often a company's first outside investor. Its add-on releases describe most deals as recapitalizations, such as Wolfe Construction and Total Scale Service, rather than outright purchases. Summit Park also brings in help: an in-house team for finance, talent and growth, plus LEAD program executives placed inside portfolio companies. That can strengthen a lean founder team, but it also means new people, new reporting and outside board members. Owners should ask how much equity they would roll, what role they would keep, and how much debt the deal would carry, since the firm says it is conservative with leverage.
Questions owners ask
What size companies does Summit Park buy?
Its investment profile calls for $20 million to $150 million of revenue and $4 million to $15 million of EBITDA. It makes control investments and is often the first outside capital a company has raised.
Does Summit Park invest in IT services or consulting firms?
Yes. In August 2024 it led a majority recapitalization of Hylaine, a Charlotte technology consulting firm focused on data engineering, application development and program management, and Hylaine is listed as seeking add-ons. It previously owned Aspirent, a data and analytics consultancy it sold to NTT DATA in 2022.
Do founders keep equity after a Summit Park deal?
Most do. Summit Park says 82% of founders retain equity after closing, and its releases describe many deals, including add-ons, as recapitalizations done in partnership with owners and management.
Which Summit Park companies are looking for add-on acquisitions?
Its Focus page lists Freedom Electronics, Exacta, Curion, StableDry Services, Michelli, Hylaine and DX Electric as actively seeking add-ons, and it publishes add-on criteria for owners and advisors.
