What Hidden Harbor Capital Partners buys

Hidden Harbor Capital Partners is a Boca Raton firm, founded in 2016, that reports more than $2 billion of assets under management. It buys control of lower middle market companies with up to $500 million of revenue and up to $30 million of EBITDA, and it says it will look at businesses that are not yet profitable. Its two main sources of deals are founder and family-owned companies and corporate carve-outs, all based in North America. Its stated themes lean toward essential services: fire and life safety, HVAC and plumbing, landscaping, property restoration, septic and waste services, environmental testing, auto repair and fleet maintenance, along with specialty chemicals, distribution and auto parts.

The firm is investing from Fund III, which closed at $800 million in July 2024, and counts more than 20 platforms and 70 add-ons. Any size works for an add-on, so a small HVAC, landscaping, fire protection or restoration business can join a platform such as Air Conditioning Specialist, Tri Scapes, SuperHero Fire Protection or RL James.

Greymont’s take

How Hidden Harbor Capital Partners fits a seller

Hidden Harbor is built for founder and family sellers. Its criteria let the owner decide whether to roll equity into the new company and what role to keep, from management to a board seat. Recent deals follow that pattern: the founders of McHale & McHale Landscape Design and Lathan Architects stayed invested and active, and the founder of Coast to Coast Logistics remained CEO.

Owners of smaller service businesses are more likely to sell to one of its platforms, which completed more than a dozen add-ons in 2025 across HVAC, landscaping, fire protection, exterior restoration and architecture. Hidden Harbor runs its companies on a fixed playbook of weekly CEO updates, team scorecards and equity plans for employees, so an owner should ask how that system will change daily operations. An owner who rolls equity should also ask how the stake is handled at exit, since in 2025 the firm moved four companies into a continuation fund led by Carlyle AlpInvest.

Questions owners ask

What size companies does Hidden Harbor buy?

Platforms can have up to $500 million of revenue and up to $30 million of EBITDA, and the firm says it will consider businesses that are not profitable. Add-ons to its existing portfolio companies can be any size.

Does Hidden Harbor buy founder-owned businesses?

Yes. Founder and family-owned companies are one of its two main deal types, along with corporate carve-outs. It offers owners a choice on rolling equity and on their future role, including management positions and board seats.

Which home and facility services does Hidden Harbor target?

Its listed themes include fire and life safety, HVAC and plumbing, electrical, elevators, landscaping, property restoration, foundation repair, generators and septic services. Current platforms in these areas include Air Conditioning Specialist, SuperHero Fire Protection, Escape Fire Protection, Tri Scapes, McHale Landscape Design and RL James.

How large is Hidden Harbor's current fund?

Fund III held its final close at $800 million in July 2024, after Fund I raised over $265 million and Fund II over $450 million. The firm's 2026 releases describe Fund III as an $825 million vehicle.
