What Tecum Capital Partners buys
Tecum Capital Partners is a Pittsburgh investment firm, started in 2006, that puts money into lower middle market U.S. companies in two ways. Most of its deals are junior capital: subordinated debt plus a minority equity stake, usually alongside an independent sponsor, family office or private equity fund that leads the buyout. It is investing from Tecum Capital Partners IV, a $415 million SBIC fund, and looks for companies with $10 million to $100 million of revenue and $3 million to $10 million of EBITDA, with checks of $5 million to $20 million. Target areas include business services, industrial and environmental services, precision manufacturing, value-added distribution, healthcare services, and food and consumer companies.
Its second strategy, Tecum Equity, buys control of family and founder owned businesses with $2 million to $6 million of EBITDA, backed by a group of family offices and private investors and with no fixed fund life. Its current control holdings are Kadon Precision Machining and PrecisionOne Supply Solutions, an industrial supply platform formed in 2025.

Greymont’s take
How Tecum Capital Partners fits a seller
For most owners, Tecum will be the second check rather than the buyer. When a sponsor or family office buys a company, Tecum often supplies subordinated debt and a slice of equity. In waste, it backed recapitalizations of 5280 Waste Solutions in Denver and Long Island Waste Services that other investors led. In that kind of deal, an owner who keeps a stake will have Tecum as a lender and minority investor, not as the controlling owner.
Owners of precision manufacturers, technical distributors or essential B2B service companies with $2 million to $6 million of EBITDA can approach Tecum Equity directly about a control sale. At Kadon in 2024, the second-generation owner stayed on as CEO. Owners should ask which Tecum strategy would invest, how any debt is priced and repaid, and how long the family office investors expect to hold the business.
Questions owners ask
Does Tecum Capital buy companies outright?
Sometimes. Its Tecum Equity strategy takes control of family and founder owned businesses with $2 million to $6 million of EBITDA, such as Kadon Precision and Aerospace in 2024 and the SupplyCo industrial supply platform in 2025. Most of its deals, though, are junior capital alongside another lead investor.
Does Tecum invest in waste and environmental services companies?
Yes, mostly as a junior capital provider. It backed 5280 Waste Solutions in Denver in 2025, Long Island Waste Services in 2024 and APS Environmental Group in 2026, and it sold its stake in rail-served disposal company Hainesport Transportation Group in August 2026.
What size companies does Tecum look for?
Its junior capital fund targets $10 million to $100 million of revenue and $3 million to $10 million of EBITDA, investing $5 million to $20 million per deal. Its control equity strategy targets $2 million to $6 million of EBITDA. Both look for EBITDA margins above 10 percent and U.S. operations.
