What RedCloud Capital buys
RedCloud Capital is a Denver private equity firm, founded in 2004, that buys control of entrepreneur-owned companies in the lower middle market. It looks for businesses with $3 million to $10 million of EBITDA and margins above 10%. It works in four areas: environmental services (waste collection and disposal, remediation, emergency response and environmental consulting), consumer products (niche manufacturers, branded goods and online brands), industrials (industrial technology, industrial cleaning, specialty distribution and chemicals) and business services (value-added distribution, LED lighting, security and safety, and testing and measurement).
The firm keeps a small portfolio. It lists two current holdings: APS Environmental Group, a New Hampshire environmental testing and abatement consulting firm it backed in September 2026, and Twelve South, which designs and sells accessories for phones and computers. Its track record of 13 platforms, 14 add-ons and about $450 million deployed counts deals its founder led at an earlier firm, Lariat Partners. RedCloud helps its companies with add-on acquisitions, financing, reporting systems and hiring, so a smaller environmental services business could also meet it as an add-on to APS.

Greymont’s take
How RedCloud Capital fits a seller
RedCloud fits the owner of an environmental services, industrial or consumer products company with about $3 million to $10 million of EBITDA who wants to sell control but keep running the business. With only a couple of current holdings, a new platform can expect close attention from the senior team. In the APS deal, the founder stayed on as chief executive and RedCloud built its plan around entering new markets and buying smaller competitors.
The APS deal was financed partly by two mezzanine investors, Tecum Capital and Southfield Mezzanine, alongside RedCloud's equity. An owner should ask how much debt the company will carry after closing, whether RedCloud invests from a committed fund or raises equity for each deal, and how much of the business the founder is expected to roll over and keep.
Questions owners ask
Does RedCloud Capital buy environmental services companies?
Yes. Environmental services is one of its four focus areas, covering waste collection and disposal, remediation, emergency response and consulting. In September 2026 it partnered with APS Environmental Group, an environmental testing and abatement consulting firm.
What size company does RedCloud look for?
Its criteria call for $3 million to $10 million of EBITDA with margins above 10 percent, and it takes a controlling stake in the companies it backs.
Does the founder stay after RedCloud invests?
In its most recent deal, yes. APS founder John DeGeorge remained chief executive, and RedCloud described the deal as a partnership with him and his management team to expand into new markets.
