Buyers by location
Denver has become the private equity center of the Mountain West. The firms based there range from specialists in travel, leisure and healthcare to lower middle market buyers of industrial distributors, specialty contractors and business services companies, and several of them focus first on owners across Colorado, Utah, Arizona and the rest of the region.
Their structures vary. Some raise traditional funds and buy control, then grow the company through add-ons. Others are holding companies that use their own capital and have no set date to sell, which can suit an owner who wants a long-term home for the business. Many will consider add-ons of almost any size once they own a platform in an industry.
A buyer in the region brings practical advantages for a Mountain West owner. It is likely to understand local labor markets, the pace of growth along the Front Range and the distances involved in serving customers across several states, and it can visit job sites and offices without a cross-country trip. That can make early conversations and diligence more efficient.
Location is still only part of the decision. Most Colorado firms invest nationwide, and many active buyers of Colorado companies are based on the coasts or in Texas. The more useful questions are whether a firm has owned businesses like yours, how it splits ownership with founders and managers, and what it typically does in the years after closing.
Each profile below shows the firm’s announced deals from the last two years with dates and sources, its stated size range and its current portfolio, so an owner can see quickly which Colorado firms are buying in their industry today.
Greymont is paid by buyers, never by owners. Greymont can help Mountain West owners compare these firms with national buyers active in the region and find the right fit.
