What Angeles Equity Partners buys

Angeles Equity Partners is a Los Angeles firm that buys industrial companies in three business models: niche manufacturing, critical industrial services and specialty distribution. Its sub-sectors include aerospace and defense, auto and truck, building products, capital equipment, facilities management, industrial technology, packaging, specialty chemicals and transportation and logistics. It takes majority control, at least 50 percent, and relies on its own operations group to rework the companies it buys. It favors carve-outs, owner succession, recapitalizations, joint ventures and special situations, and will either back current management or help bring in new leaders.

Its range runs from companies that are losing money up to $40 million of EBITDA, with enterprise values up to $375 million and equity checks up to $150 million. New platforms need a US or Canadian headquarters, while add-ons can be anywhere. The firm has close to $1 billion of commitments across two funds, the latest closing above $540 million in 2023. Smaller companies usually join as add-ons, like the three roofers O'Hara's Son Roofing has bought since May 2025.

Greymont’s take

How Angeles Equity Partners fits a seller

Angeles fits owners of industrial businesses who want a buyer that will take on a turnaround, a carve-out or a succession problem. It accepts companies that are not yet profitable and writes a detailed operating plan with management after it invests. Expect close involvement: the firm has its own operating partners, and in 2026 alone Acieta, Crenlo and O'Hara's Son Roofing all got new chief executives.

Founders who want to keep running the company can still fit. Technique's founder stayed on as chief executive after Angeles bought a majority stake in November 2025, and CP Rankin kept its name and leadership after joining O'Hara's Son Roofing. Because Angeles may either keep management or replace it, an owner should ask early whether the firm sees the current team as the long-term leaders, and how much of the company the owner would keep after closing.

Questions owners ask

Will Angeles Equity Partners buy a company that is losing money?

Yes. Its published criteria start at unprofitable companies and go up to $40 million of EBITDA, and its transaction types include special situations, recapitalizations and corporate carve-outs.

Does Angeles buy roofing companies?

Yes. It bought O'Hara's Son Roofing, a national commercial roofer based in Chicago, in 2024 and has since added Starkweather Roofing in Arizona, Total Systems Roofing in Illinois and CP Rankin in Pennsylvania.

Does the owner stay on after Angeles invests?

It depends on the deal. The firm says it will either partner with current management or help with a leadership change. Technique's founder stayed as chief executive after the November 2025 deal, while several other portfolio companies have named new chief executives since.
