What 3 Rivers Capital buys
3 Rivers Capital is a Pittsburgh private equity firm, founded in 2005 and called Standish Capital until 2009, that makes control buyouts and recapitalizations of small family- and entrepreneur-owned companies with $4 million to $10 million of EBITDA. It invests across the continental US, mostly from the East Coast to the Mountain West. Its stated focus areas are IT services (especially resellers building a managed services business), non-hospital healthcare services and healthcare products, automation, energy supply management, specialty construction and infrastructure services, and business-to-business suppliers of healthier foods.
The firm describes its approach as active leadership: adding people, systems and processes and making add-on acquisitions. Nearly every company on its portfolio page was family owned, and it usually keeps the existing management team. Current holdings are automotive aftermarket maker AGS, emergency food maker Blue Chip Group, EMI shielding firm Gaven, lighting parts seller Interlight, Magnum Systems, MPC Plating and R3 Wound Care. A company below its EBITDA floor is most likely to fit as an add-on, as ECS Solutions did with Magnum Systems in August 2025.

Greymont’s take
How 3 Rivers Capital fits a seller
3 Rivers fits a family owner with a profitable company in the $4 million to $10 million EBITDA range who wants to sell control but keep the current team in place. Its portfolio page describes almost every deal as a family-owned purchase in which it partnered with existing management, though at PAT Tank it put one of its operating partners in as CEO. Today its holdings lean toward manufacturing and industrial niches, plus one wound care clinic group.
Holdings can stay for years: R3 Wound Care, bought in November 2020, is still in the portfolio. An owner should ask how long 3 Rivers expects to hold the business, which operating partners would be involved, and whether add-on acquisitions are part of the plan, since the firm names them as a main way it grows companies.
