What Stone-Goff Partners buys
Stone-Goff Partners is a New York and Boston private equity firm, founded in 2010, that buys business-to-business service companies built on technology. Its named verticals are business services, consulting, marketing services, IT services, outsourcing, and human capital and training, and it likes companies that serve one clearly defined end market. It looks for $3 million to $12 million of historical EBITDA, steady profits ahead of fast growth, strong margins and no heavy customer concentration, anywhere in the United States. It does not back early-stage companies.
Stone-Goff takes majority positions, usually as the first institutional investor, either alongside founder-operators or through corporate carve-outs. Its fourth fund closed at $175 million in June 2023. In 2026 it added 5Q Partners, an IT and cybersecurity provider to commercial real estate owners, and Quandary Consultants, a Denver environmental compliance firm. Holdings such as JSI, FS Vector, Spotlight and MissionWired keep buying smaller firms, which is the likeliest route for a company below the EBITDA floor.

Greymont’s take
How Stone-Goff Partners fits a seller
Stone-Goff fits the founder of a profitable, specialized B2B service firm, such as a managed IT provider, a consulting practice or an environmental compliance firm, that has never taken outside capital. The firm wants founders and executives to keep meaningful equity and stay in charge. Both 2026 platform deals were built around existing leaders: Wade Hughes stayed CEO of 5Q, and Quandary's co-founders spoke about using Stone-Goff's resources to keep building the firm they started.
Expect a majority sale with a rollover, then growth through add-ons; 5Q closed its first add-on the same day Stone-Goff invested. Holds can run several years, as with Walker Sands from late 2019 to its 2025 sale. An owner should ask how large a stake they would keep, who will sit on the board, and how and when the firm expects to exit.
