What American Securities buys

American Securities is a New York private equity firm with roots in the Rosenwald family office, set up in 1947, and an institutional fund history that starts in 1994. It reports $23 billion of committed capital, 82 platform investments and 379 add-on acquisitions. It buys control of established North American companies with $200 million to $2 billion of yearly revenue, mostly in industrial products and services, building products, aerospace and government services, business services, power and energy, and specialty materials. Its current companies also span healthcare, education and consumer products.

The firm says more than 40% of its investments have been in family- or founder-owned or run businesses, and that about 80% of CEOs stay in place through exit. More than 40 in-house specialists help each company with operations, pricing, technology and acquisitions. A smaller business is most likely to meet American Securities through an add-on, for example by selling an HOA management company to RealManage or a managed IT provider to NWN, which bought InterVision Systems in 2025.

Greymont’s take

How American Securities fits a seller

American Securities suits owners of large, established companies, and owners of smaller ones in fields where it already has a platform. Two current companies matter most for smaller service businesses. RealManage manages homeowner and condominium associations across the US and says it buys community management companies with flexible deal structures and a focus on keeping staff and clients. NWN, a cloud communications and IT services company, added the managed services provider InterVision in June 2025.

The firm tends to hold for a long time: MW Components and CPM were owned for eight to nine years before their 2026 sales. An owner rolling equity into an add-on should ask where the platform is in that cycle, and how the firm's in-house operating team will change reporting, systems and staffing after closing.
