What 3 Boomerang Capital buys

3 Boomerang Capital is a Greenwich, Connecticut private equity firm that invests only in healthcare. It works in four corners of the industry: outsourced services for drug and biotech companies, contract manufacturing for medical devices and diagnostics, healthcare IT and tech-enabled services, and care delivered outside the hospital. The target is a company owned by its founder or family, or a division a larger company wants to sell, with roughly $4 million to $14 million of EBITDA and a base in North America or Western Europe.

The firm invests from its first fund, a $376 million vehicle that closed in early 2024. It will take control or a minority stake, and it puts money to work through recapitalizations that give owners some cash, growth projects, management buyouts and acquisitions. Since 2024 it has backed ABS Bio, Enjoin, Bio-Response Solutions, Matrix Plastic Products and a life sciences consulting platform now called Pinnaql. Three of those have already bought smaller companies, so a business below the EBITDA range is most likely to meet 3 Boomerang as a tuck-in.

Greymont’s take

How 3 Boomerang Capital fits a seller

3 Boomerang suits the owner of a healthcare business that sells to hospitals, drug makers or device companies and wants a partner that knows that world well. Its deals so far have mostly been recapitalizations where the existing leaders keep running the company. Enjoin's CEO stayed in place after the 2024 deal, and Matrix's CEO kept leading the business from its Illinois base. The firm also brings in outside executives as a company grows, as it did when Pinnaql named a new CEO in September 2026.

Owners of smaller firms in clinical documentation, biospecimens or life sciences consulting should expect the talk to be about joining Enjoin, ABS Bio or Pinnaql rather than becoming a new platform. Good questions to ask are whether the firm wants control or a minority stake in your case, and how much of your equity it expects you to roll into the combined company.
