What TZP Group buys

TZP Group is a New York investment firm, founded in 2007, that backs lower middle market companies in the United States and Canada in five areas: property and facility services, wellness and enrichment, software and technology, branded consumer, and professional services. It invests in three ways. Its buyout strategy takes control of companies with $2 million to $15 million of EBITDA and puts in $10 million to $100 million of equity. Its growth equity strategy makes non-control investments of $10 million to $35 million in companies with more than $10 million of revenue. A separate SBIC fund provides $5 million to $25 million of debt and structured equity to smaller US businesses. TZP manages about $2.5 billion and counts 58 platform investments.

The firm aims at owners who want a partner but are not ready for a full exit, and many of its deals are recapitalizations in which the founder keeps a stake. A smaller company can also meet TZP as an add-on, as Journey Builders did when it joined Results Roofing in October 2026.

Greymont’s take

How TZP Group fits a seller

TZP fits owners who want to take money off the table but keep a meaningful stake and stay in charge. Its recent buyouts were recapitalizations alongside founders, such as Results Roofing and Superscapes in April 2025, and its growth equity arm takes minority positions, like the $40 million TruVideo deal. It is an active buyer of property services: it owns a roofer, a commercial landscaper, a bathroom remodeler, a valet trash company and PURE HomeRiver, a large rental property manager. After closing, TZP's in-house Portfolio Growth Group works with management on operations and growth.

Owners should ask which TZP strategy would fund the deal, since a control buyout, a growth equity stake and SBIC debt come with very different terms. They should also ask about exit plans; Soccer Post, for example, was sold to its own management team in 2025.

Questions owners ask

Does TZP Group invest in property management companies?

Yes. It owns PURE HomeRiver, which manages single-family and multifamily rental homes in 35 states and merged with HomeRiver Group in January 2026. In October 2026 it also backed Pavilion, a new group of vacation rental managers.

What size companies does TZP buy?

For control buyouts it targets companies with $2 million to $15 million of EBITDA and invests $10 million to $100 million of equity. Its growth equity strategy looks for more than $10 million of revenue, and its SBIC fund provides $5 million to $25 million.

Does TZP buy roofing or landscaping companies?

Yes. In April 2025 it recapitalized Results Roofing, a Dallas re-roofing company, and Superscapes, a Texas commercial landscaper. Results Roofing then bought Journey Builders in October 2026 to expand into California.

Can an owner keep a stake after selling to TZP?

Yes. TZP says it targets owners who want a growth partner rather than a full exit, and several recent deals were recapitalizations where the founder stayed, including Results Roofing, whose founder remains CEO.
