What The Brydon Group buys
The Brydon Group is a Washington, D.C. firm founded in 2022 by veterans of elite U.S. military units. Its model pairs money with a person: through a CEO-in-Residence program it recruits experienced executives, helps each one find and buy a small company, and backs them as the new CEO. It reported more than $570 million of committed capital at the end of 2025, closed its third fund that year, and counted 46 acquisitions by March 2026. It aims to launch about six new platforms a year.
For a first platform it wants $5 million to $25 million of revenue and $1 million to $5 million of EBITDA, and it usually buys 90 to 100 percent of the company. Smaller tuck-in deals for existing platforms are welcome. It favors recurring revenue, low capital spending and a spread-out customer base. Target areas are vertical and compliance software, healthcare services and billing, government and government contractor services, managed and compliance services for regulated industries, insurance agencies, and training providers. Its capital is fully committed, so a deal does not hinge on fundraising.

Greymont’s take
How The Brydon Group fits a seller
Brydon suits owners of small software, healthcare, government services or business services companies who are ready to step back and hand the company to a new leader. In most of its deals the owner sells nearly all of the business and an executive Brydon has recruited takes over as CEO at closing, as at American Safety Institute in 2024. Founders can stay involved in other roles: at MedComms Experts the founder became chief strategy officer, and at Better Impact the founders kept working beside the new team.
Because the incoming CEO is new to the company, an owner should ask how much of that person's background is in the industry, how long a transition the buyer expects from the founder, and how long Brydon plans to own the business. The firm recorded its first exit in 2025, when it sold Renvio two years after buying it.
Questions owners ask
What size company does The Brydon Group buy?
For a first platform it looks for $5 million to $25 million of revenue and $1 million to $5 million of EBITDA, and it usually buys 90 to 100 percent of the company. It also considers smaller tuck-in acquisitions for its existing platforms.
Will the owner keep running the business after Brydon buys it?
Usually not as CEO. Each deal is paired with an executive from Brydon's CEO-in-Residence program who becomes CEO. Founders sometimes stay in other roles: in the February 2025 MedComms Experts deal the founder became chief strategy officer, and Better Impact's founders kept working alongside the new leaders.
Does Brydon buy IT services or government services companies?
Yes. Government services and software is one of its four focus areas. In 2025 it acquired Rotation Digital, a technology consulting and implementation firm, and Geographic Technologies Group, which provides GIS consulting and implementation to government agencies and utilities.
