What The Beekman Group buys
The Beekman Group is a New York private equity firm, founded in 2004, that manages more than $1 billion and invests in lower middle market service businesses. Its target sectors are business services, industrial services, consumer services and healthcare services. Today that means restaurant and fitness franchise operators (Another Broken Egg, Condado Tacos, and Dunkin' and Planet Fitness franchisee groups), physician and dental groups (Allergy & ENT Associates, First Choice Dental), and niche business software and services such as AutoManager, Convenient Brands and Fluent.
Beekman looks for companies with $10 million to $300 million of revenue and deal values of $30 million to $300 million, and it puts in $20 million to $150 million of equity per deal. It prefers to lead control deals: sales, recapitalizations, management buyouts, buy-and-build platforms and corporate carve-outs. It will also take significant minority stakes or co-invest in larger deals. Managers keep real ownership, more than 30% on average. A smaller company is more likely to meet Beekman as an add-on to a platform such as AutoManager, which has bought four businesses since 2022.

Greymont’s take
How The Beekman Group fits a seller
Beekman suits owners of established service businesses who want to sell control but keep a real stake: multi-unit restaurant and fitness franchisees, physician and dental practice groups, and niche business software or services firms. The firm says management teams keep more than 30% ownership on average, and it pairs each company with an industry operating advisor who sits on the board. A sale here usually takes the form of a recapitalization, with the owner rolling equity and staying to run the business while Beekman funds add-ons.
Its newest platform on its own news page is the January 2023 Eclipse Fitness recapitalization, though its companies keep making add-ons and it exited three holdings or business units between late 2024 and mid-2025. Owners should ask which Beekman fund would make the investment, how much capital it has left for new platforms, and what the operating advisor would do day to day.
Questions owners ask
