What TJC buys
TJC, formerly known as The Jordan Company, is a New York private equity firm founded in 1982 that manages about $31.3 billion. It buys established, profitable companies with enterprise values of roughly $100 million to $2.5 billion across six areas: diversified industrials, industrial technology, logistics and business services, digital and power infrastructure, healthcare, and consumer. It uses many deal shapes, from leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations to take-privates of public companies, corporate carve-outs and growth capital, and it expects management to own a real stake next to the firm.
Its current flagship fund is the $6.85 billion Resolute Fund VI, closed in January 2024. Most owners of smaller businesses will meet TJC through one of its platforms rather than as a new platform. The firm says it has done more than 550 add-on acquisitions since 2002, and 48 in 2025 alone across 22 companies, through holdings such as Heartland in home services, Dental365, Echo Global Logistics and Arclin.

Greymont’s take
How TJC fits a seller
TJC suits owners of large, profitable companies who want a buyer with a long record of growing businesses through acquisitions. In a typical deal TJC takes control while the management team keeps a meaningful equity stake, and its Operations Management Group, set up in 1988, works with managers on growth and cost plans. For a smaller company the more likely route is an add-on sale to a TJC platform in the same field, such as Heartland in residential HVAC and plumbing or Dental365 in dental care.
Founders sometimes keep a large share: at Switchback Medical and 3dB Labs the founders stayed significant owners. Recent exits came after holds of about five to six years and went to corporate buyers such as Motorola Solutions and Georgia-Pacific or to other investors. An owner rolling equity should ask how long TJC plans to hold the business and who the likely next owner is.
Questions owners ask
Is TJC the same firm as The Jordan Company?
Yes. The firm now goes by TJC, and its 2025 and 2026 press releases describe TJC LP as formerly known as The Jordan Company. The old thejordancompany.com address now forwards to tjclp.com.
What size of company does TJC buy?
TJC says it targets established middle market companies with enterprise values from about $100 million to $2.5 billion that are well run, growing and profitable. Smaller businesses usually join as add-ons to a company TJC already owns.
Does TJC own home services or dental businesses?
Yes. Its current companies include Heartland, which provides HVAC, plumbing, electrical and indoor air quality services, Ned Stevens in gutter cleaning and home maintenance, and Dental365, a dental group in the New York metro area and New England.
Do managers and founders keep equity after a TJC deal?
TJC says management works alongside it with a significant equity stake. In its August 2026 deal for 3dB Labs, the founders, managers and employees were set to keep significant ownership.
