What Seaport Capital buys

Seaport Capital is a New York buyout firm, founded in 1997, that works in three areas: communications infrastructure and services (fiber and broadband networks, cell towers, data centers, hosting and managed IT), business and information services (software, outsourcing and other tech-enabled services), and media (location-based advertising such as billboards, plus live events). It looks for companies earning $3 million to $15 million of EBITDA, with enterprise values of roughly $25 million to $150 million, and invests $10 million to $40 million of equity in each one. It favors recurring revenue, organic profit growth and markets where acquisitions can add scale.

Seaport mostly takes control, and it says nearly all of its platforms were owned by founders or entrepreneurs before it invested. It has made 56 platform investments and more than 130 add-ons, and its sixth fund closed at $240 million in December 2021. It also writes growth equity checks, as with FMC GlobalSat in April 2025. A company below its EBITDA floor is most likely to meet Seaport as an add-on, for example to its managed IT platform CyberlinkASP.

Greymont’s take

How Seaport Capital fits a seller

Seaport suits founders of managed IT, cloud hosting, telecom infrastructure or tech-enabled service companies that have recurring revenue and at least $3 million of EBITDA. A sale usually means Seaport takes control, backs the existing team and then uses the company to buy smaller competitors. CyberlinkASP is the clearest example: Fresh Managed IT, bought in January 2026, was its third acquisition, so smaller managed service providers can sell into that platform.

Seaport tends to hold for several years. It owned Exacom from November 2020 until selling it to Motorola Solutions in March 2026, and the company's revenue more than doubled in that time. Because the most recent fund close Seaport has announced was in December 2021, an owner should ask which fund would pay for the deal and how much equity management would be expected to roll over.

Questions owners ask

What size company does Seaport Capital invest in?

Seaport targets companies with $3 million to $15 million of EBITDA and enterprise values between about $25 million and $150 million. It typically invests $10 million to $40 million of equity in each deal.

Does Seaport Capital buy managed IT service providers?

Yes. Its current companies include CyberlinkASP, a managed service provider it acquired in 2023, and Atmosera, which offers Azure cloud architecture and managed services. CyberlinkASP added the Cosentus Holdings MSP division in January 2025 and Fresh Managed IT in January 2026.

Does Seaport Capital take minority or growth stakes?

Mostly it takes control, and its homepage describes its investments as primarily control-oriented. It does make exceptions: in April 2025 it put growth equity into FMC GlobalSat, a satellite and wireless connectivity provider based in Fort Lauderdale.
