What Hall Capital Holdings buys
Hall Capital Holdings is the single-family office of founder Bill Hood, based in Palm Harbor, Florida, and started in 2006. It invests the family's own money, so there is no fund life and no deadline to sell. On the private side it does two things: it buys majority stakes in established U.S. companies, and it takes minority stakes as a growth equity partner or co-investor. Its stated size for both is $1 million to $4 million of EBITDA. It looks for steady cash flow, recurring revenue, a lasting edge over competitors, room to grow by acquisition, and owners who keep some equity.
The firm is a generalist. Its two most recent buys were Florida companies sold in spring 2026: AC Direct, an online HVAC equipment wholesaler, and BatteryPlex, an online battery seller. Its minority stakes include a military aircraft parts maker, a compounding pharmacy network and a water treatment service group, several of them made next to Tampa private equity firm Osceola Capital. An owner in its size range would deal with Hall directly as the lead buyer.

Greymont’s take
How Hall Capital Holdings fits a seller
Hall suits a Florida or Southeast owner with $1 million to $4 million of EBITDA who wants to sell control but does not want a buyer that must resell within five years. Because the money is the family's own, Hall says it can hold a company with no end date and build the deal around the founder, whether that means stepping away, staying on as a partner, or keeping rolled equity. AC Direct's chief executive described his company as a family business when it sold to Hall in April 2026.
The team is small, with a managing member, a chief operating officer, a chief financial officer and a research director, so owners should ask who will sit on the board and how much hands-on help to expect. It is also fair to ask how Hall decides when to sell, since it exited Advantage Industries in January 2026 about three years after investing.
Questions owners ask
What size company does Hall Capital Holdings buy?
Its website gives a range of $1 million to $4 million of EBITDA for both majority buyouts and growth equity deals. It looks for established U.S. companies with steady cash flow and room to grow on their own or through acquisitions.
Does Hall Capital Holdings have to sell a company within a few years?
No. It invests family capital rather than a fund, so it says it has no fund life and no required exit timeline and can keep a business indefinitely. It did sell Advantage Industries to PrimeSource Brands in January 2026, about three years after investing.
Can an owner keep a stake after selling to Hall Capital Holdings?
Yes. Hall lists equity rollover as a preference for its direct buyouts, and its page for sellers describes full or partial sales, rolled equity and transition timelines set around what the founder wants.
Does Hall Capital Holdings take minority stakes?
Yes. Besides majority buyouts it makes growth equity investments and co-investments. Its news page shows minority stakes in Revelation Pharma and TENDIT Group in 2023 and in Flotilla Partners in 2024, each made alongside Osceola Capital.
