What Genesis Park buys
Genesis Park is a Houston firm, founded in 1999, that supplies debt and equity to lower middle market companies across the U.S. It invests mainly through funds licensed by the Small Business Administration, which had $575 million of commitments in 2025, including GP Capital Partners II, a $300 million fund closed in March 2025. It usually puts $10 million to $30 million into each company as senior or subordinated loans, preferred equity or common equity, and it looks for at least $10 million of revenue and about $3 million to $15 million of EBITDA.
Genesis Park is usually not the control buyer. Most recent deals pair its loans with a minority equity stake next to an independent sponsor or private equity firm that leads the deal, as with Glass Box Technology and Procare. It also offers growth capital, minority recapitalizations, management buyouts and family transitions straight to owners who want to keep control. Its experience runs deepest in business, industrial and residential services, IT, manufacturing and distribution.

Greymont’s take
How Genesis Park fits a seller
Genesis Park suits an owner who wants some cash or growth money without selling the whole company, or one who is selling to an independent sponsor that needs a capital partner. In a minority recapitalization the owner keeps control while Genesis Park provides a mix of loans and equity. That gives up less ownership than selling a large stake, but it adds debt to the balance sheet. Its current holdings include property manager Northpoint, managed IT provider Glass Box Technology and government technology contractor Redhawk Federal Solutions.
Owners should ask how much of the money would be debt and how much equity, what the interest and repayment terms are, and what say Genesis Park would have over a future sale. If a sponsor is leading the deal, ask who will control the company afterward.
Questions owners ask
Does Genesis Park invest equity or only lend?
Both. Its funds make senior and subordinated loans and buy preferred or common equity. It provided debt and equity to Redhawk Federal Solutions in September 2025 and debt plus minority equity to T&R Recovery in May 2025.
What size company does Genesis Park invest in?
It looks for at least $10 million of revenue and roughly $3 million to $15 million of EBITDA, and it usually invests $10 million to $30 million in each company.
Does Genesis Park invest in IT services or property management companies?
Yes. In 2025 it backed managed IT provider Glass Box Technology, government technology contractor Redhawk Federal Solutions and IT services firm Helient Technologies, and it holds single-family rental property manager Northpoint.
