What Dunes Point Capital buys
Dunes Point Capital is a family office and private investment firm in Rye, New York, started in 2013, that takes control of general industrial and business services companies. Its sector list covers automation, building products, business services, industrial technology and equipment, industrial and consumer products, packaging and labels, specialty chemicals, specialty distribution, contract manufacturing, testing and inspection, transportation and logistics, and water. It says more than 90 percent of its deals involve family, founder or employee owners, and it also buys corporate carve-outs, ESOP-owned companies and businesses with operating problems.
For a new platform it wants $10 million to $75 million of EBITDA, with enterprise values up to $1 billion. Add-ons need more than $2 million of EBITDA. The firm reports $2.5 billion raised as of August 2026; its last announced fund, Fund III, closed at $800 million in March 2024. Roofing has been its busiest area lately: Roofing Services Solutions bought five roofers between November 2024 and October 2025, and Greenwood Industries joined as a new platform in May 2025.

Greymont’s take
How Dunes Point Capital fits a seller
Dunes Point is a good match for family and founder owners who want to keep a stake. It reports that more than 80 percent of its platform sellers have rolled equity into the new company, and its criteria promise flexible structures around the seller's role and timing. The Kravet deal in December 2024 is an example: the founding family stayed a significant shareholder.
Roofing and building exterior contractors have been its most frequent targets, with add-ons in Florida, Texas and Minnesota through Roofing Services Solutions and a separate New England platform in Greenwood Industries. Because the firm invests from funds and has sold companies after four or five years, such as NextGen Security in 2026 and Unified Door and Hardware Group in 2024, an owner who rolls equity should ask how long Dunes Point expects to hold the business and who the likely next buyer is.
Questions owners ask
Does Dunes Point Capital buy roofing companies?
Yes. Its Roofing Services Solutions platform, formed in December 2023, had bought eight companies across Florida, Minnesota and Texas by October 2025. In May 2025 the firm also bought Greenwood Industries, a commercial roofing and building envelope contractor based in Worcester, Massachusetts.
How big does a company need to be for Dunes Point?
A new platform needs $10 million to $75 million of EBITDA. The firm also buys add-ons for its existing companies when they have more than $2 million of EBITDA.
Can an owner keep a stake after selling to Dunes Point?
Yes. Its criteria invite sellers to invest alongside the firm, and it reports that more than 80 percent of platform sellers have rolled over equity. The Kravet family stayed a significant shareholder after the December 2024 deal.
