What Capitol Meridian Partners buys
Capitol Meridian Partners is a Washington, DC investment firm started in 2021 by Adam Palmer and Brooke Coburn, who had worked together at The Carlyle Group for more than 25 years. It invests where government and commercial markets meet: aerospace and defense, aviation services, government services and IT modernization, cybersecurity, and software for government contractors and regulated industries. In July 2026 it closed its second fund at its $1.9 billion hard cap.
For new platforms it targets $5 million to $75 million or more of EBITDA and equity checks of $50 million to $250 million or more, which it can invest up front or over time. Deals are control-oriented buyouts, growth investments and corporate carve-outs, mostly for companies based in North America. Founder and family businesses are a regular source: LAUNCH was founder-led and RH Aero had been run by one family since 1967, and in both the owners kept significant stakes. A company below its size floor is most likely to meet Capitol Meridian as an add-on, as when Clarity Innovations merged with Chameleon Consulting Group in 2024.

Greymont’s take
How Capitol Meridian Partners fits a seller
Capitol Meridian suits owners of established defense, aviation, government services and government technology companies who want a specialist buyer that already understands federal contracting, security clearances and aviation rules. Its checks start around $50 million, so it is a buyer for sizable businesses rather than small contractors. In its recent founder and family deals, sellers kept a real stake: LAUNCH's management kept a significant share in February 2025, and RH Aero's family shareholders stayed significant investors in the September 2026 deal.
The firm leans on a bench of operating partners and has put new board chairs in place at LAUNCH and Westway. An owner should ask what role the founder will have after closing, which operating partner would work with the company, and how the firm thinks shifts in federal budgets could affect the plan for the business.
Questions owners ask
What size company does Capitol Meridian invest in?
For new platform investments it targets $5 million to $75 million or more of EBITDA, with equity checks of $50 million to $250 million or more, invested either up front or over time.
Does Capitol Meridian work with founder or family-owned businesses?
Yes. LAUNCH was founder-led when Capitol Meridian bought a majority in February 2025, and RH Aero had been led by the same family since 1967. In both deals the existing owners kept significant stakes.
What is Capitol Meridian's latest fund?
Capitol Meridian Fund II closed in July 2026 at its $1.9 billion hard cap, about double the size of its first fund. Roughly $100 million came from the firm's affiliates, and nearly 90% of Fund I investors committed again.
