What Vance Street Capital buys

Vance Street Capital is a Los Angeles private equity firm that buys engineered-product manufacturers in four areas: medical technology, life sciences, industrial technology, and aerospace and defense. It wants companies with process know-how or IP that make mission-critical parts for regulated markets, with $3 million to $30 million of EBITDA and enterprise values of $30 million to $350 million, based in the US or Canada. It says more than three quarters of its investments have been family-owned businesses, and it also does management buyouts, corporate carve-outs, industry roll-ups and growth capital.

Its fourth fund closed at a $775 million hard cap in April 2024, taking total capital raised past $2 billion. Since late 2024 that fund has backed new platforms including Prince Sterilization Services, System Seals, Fumex, MRPC and Damotech. Add-on acquisitions can be any size and in any location, so a smaller company most often meets Vance Street through a platform such as Keltec in industrial filtration or Pro-Vision in fleet video safety.

Greymont’s take

How Vance Street Capital fits a seller

Vance Street suits founders and families who own specialized manufacturers, especially medical device suppliers and industrial filtration, sealing or safety businesses. Its strategy page lays out three paths for the owner: leave at closing, step back to a board or advisory role while keeping a stake, or stay on in the same job. Recent deals cover that range: System Seals' founder kept a meaningful stake and stayed as CEO, Fumex's CEO reinvested, and MRPC's CEO and shareholder continued to lead the business.

The firm builds platforms to sell to large strategic buyers, as when TransDigm bought Jet Parts Engineering and Victor Sierra for about $2.2 billion in 2026. Owners should ask which fund would invest, how much equity they would be expected to roll over, and how Vance Street's operating partners would work with the existing team.

Questions owners ask

What size companies does Vance Street Capital buy?

For new platforms it targets $3 million to $30 million of EBITDA and enterprise values of $30 million to $350 million in the US or Canada. Add-on acquisitions for its portfolio companies can be any size and in any location.

Can a founder stay involved after selling to Vance Street?

Yes. The firm offers a full exit at closing, a partial step back with a retained stake and a board or advisory role, or continued full involvement. System Seals' founder stayed on as CEO with a meaningful stake after the 2024 deal.

Which industries does Vance Street focus on?

Medical technology, life sciences, industrial technology, and aerospace and defense. It looks for niche manufacturers of engineered, mission-critical components, where a part failing would cost a customer far more than the part itself.
