What Amberjack Capital Partners buys

Amberjack Capital Partners is a Houston private equity firm that buys lower middle market companies serving industrial, infrastructure and environmental markets. It began in 2006 as Intervale Capital and took its current name in 2021, when it widened its focus beyond the oilfield and energy businesses that still make up much of its portfolio. Its stated target is a company with $4 million to $20 million of EBITDA and an enterprise value of about $20 million to $175 million. It expects to put $20 million to $75 million of equity into each platform over the life of the deal and keeps debt modest.

The areas it names include flow control, specialty chemicals, testing and inspection, utility and rail services, waste collection and disposal, specialty recycling and remediation. The firm says it has raised $2.1 billion since 2006 and is often the first outside investor in a founder-led company. A smaller business is most likely to meet Amberjack as an add-on to a platform such as Industrial Thermal Services or CIMA.

Greymont’s take

How Amberjack Capital Partners fits a seller

Amberjack suits owners of Gulf Coast industrial service, testing and inspection, and waste or environmental businesses who want a control partner with long experience in energy and industrial markets. Its recent platforms show two paths. In one, the founder keeps running the company, as Ryan Aras did at Industrial Thermal Services. In the other, Amberjack buys a division from a large corporation and brings in outside industry veterans to lead it, as with PMV Automation. Both CIMA and Industrial Thermal Services were set up to make further acquisitions, so a seller should expect a push for growth through add-ons.

Owners should ask how long Amberjack expects to hold the business; it kept Entegra for about nine years before selling it in 2025. Its website and its press releases quote slightly different EBITDA ranges, so it is worth confirming the current size target early in talks.

Questions owners ask

Does Amberjack buy waste and environmental services companies?

Yes. Waste collection, disposal, specialty recycling and remediation are among its stated focus areas. In February 2026 it partnered with CIMA Services, a Pasadena, Texas waste, environmental and industrial services company, and it previously owned Best Trash and Milestone Environmental Services.

What size company does Amberjack look for?

Its published criteria call for $4 million to $20 million of EBITDA and a platform enterprise value of roughly $20 million to $175 million. It expects to invest $20 million to $75 million of equity in each company over the life of the investment.

Is Amberjack the same firm as Intervale Capital?

Yes. Intervale Capital changed its name to Amberjack Capital Partners in May 2021 and broadened its focus to include infrastructure, industrial and environmental businesses. Older press releases on the firm's site still use the Intervale name.

Does the founder stay on after Amberjack invests?

Often, yes. When Amberjack invested in Industrial Thermal Services in April 2025, founder Ryan Aras remained CEO and the company kept its existing leadership team.
