What Carr's Hill Partners buys
Carr's Hill Partners is a New Orleans private equity firm, founded in 2019, that buys family and founder-owned industrial and infrastructure services companies, mainly on the Gulf Coast and across the South. Its target is a company with more than $10 million of revenue and $3 million to $20 million of EBITDA, and it puts in $15 million to $60 million or more of equity. It wants majority control or a clear path to it, and it prefers to be the first outside investor. Focus areas include waste and environmental services, marine and rail services, niche manufacturing, safety and compliance, testing and inspection, logistics and utility services.
The firm started as an independent sponsor and closed its first fund at $210 million in March 2025. It reported $595 million of assets under management, eight platform investments and 19 add-ons as of June 2026. Current holdings include Arrow Waste, an Atlanta waste hauler, and SMART Safety, which has made four add-ons since April 2025. A smaller company could meet Carr's Hill as an add-on or as a first-time platform.

Greymont’s take
How Carr's Hill Partners fits a seller
Carr's Hill fits owners of Gulf Coast and Southern service businesses, such as waste hauling, dredging, rail maintenance, safety compliance or industrial services, who want a nearby buyer that can work with them in person. The firm tells owners they can keep running the company or have it bring in new management, and its deals show both. Freedom Intermodal's president stayed on to lead the company, while OMNI hired a new CEO at closing and kept its long-time operations and sales leaders. Founders of add-ons have also joined the platform, as at SMART Safety in 2025.
As a first outside investor, Carr's Hill typically adds board members with industry experience, sets up management incentive plans and invests in financial and IT systems. Owners should ask whether the deal would come from Fund I or a later fund, how much of the company Carr's Hill wants to own, and what add-ons it has in mind.
Questions owners ask
Does Carr's Hill buy waste hauling companies?
Yes. Environmental and waste services is one of its focus areas, and since 2022 it has owned Arrow Waste, an Atlanta waste hauling business that runs more than 35 roll-off routes.
What size company does Carr's Hill look for?
Its strategy page targets companies with more than $10 million of revenue and $3 million to $20 million of EBITDA, with $15 million to $60 million or more of equity. Its Fund I announcement described a typical range of $5 million to $15 million of EBITDA.
Does Carr's Hill invest outside the Gulf Coast?
It invests across North America, but its main focus is companies on the Gulf Coast or in the greater Southern U.S. Its current holdings are based in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Georgia.
Can the owner keep running the business after Carr's Hill invests?
Yes, that is one option the firm offers, and it also says it can bring in new management instead. At Freedom Intermodal in 2025, the president stayed on to lead the company after the recapitalization.
