What The HiGro Group buys

HiGro Group is a New York private equity firm that buys control or majority stakes in founder-led and family-owned business services companies. It looks for service businesses that still run on older, manual processes and can grow faster with better technology. It sorts its targets into three groups: professional services such as accounting, legal, consulting and technology work; skilled trades such as HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and electrical work and field services; and mission-critical services such as healthcare support, linen, remediation and facilities management. Its largest holding is Daida, a New Jersey document digitization and content management company it has owned since 2018.

For a new platform, HiGro wants $15 million to $50 million of revenue and $3 million to $10 million of EBITDA, in deals worth $30 million to $100 million. Add-ons can be far smaller, starting at about $1 million of revenue and $500,000 of EBITDA. Earnouts, rollover equity and management co-investment are normal parts of its deals. A smaller company is most likely to meet HiGro as an add-on to Daida, ProPencity or Professional Linen Companies.

Greymont’s take

How The HiGro Group fits a seller

HiGro suits owners of service businesses with roughly $3 million to $10 million of EBITDA who are planning a succession and want a buyer that will invest in systems and staff rather than cut them. The firm says it often gets to know owners a year or two before a sale, and that just over half of its deals were done directly with founders and families. Today the most natural fit is a smaller document management, records or government services company that could join Daida, which announced two such add-ons in mid-2026.

Because HiGro treats earnouts and rollover equity as standard, part of the price will often depend on results after closing. An owner should ask how any earnout is measured and who controls the decisions that drive it, and whether HiGro is investing from a committed fund or raising money for each deal.

Questions owners ask

What size companies does HiGro Group buy?

For a new platform it targets $15 million to $50 million of revenue and $3 million to $10 million of EBITDA. Add-on acquisitions can be as small as about $1 million of revenue and $500,000 of EBITDA.

Does HiGro buy HVAC or other trade businesses?

Its stated skilled labor focus includes HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and electrical, and field service companies. Its current platforms are in document management, government process outsourcing and commercial linen, so it has not yet announced a trades platform.

How does HiGro structure its deals?

It buys control or majority stakes and says earnouts, rollover equity and management co-investment are standard tools in its transactions, used to keep sellers and managers invested in the next stage of the business.

Is Daida still making acquisitions?

Yes. Daida, which HiGro recapitalized in 2018, announced the Scan-Optics acquisition in June 2026 and Foveonics Document Solutions in July 2026, and said it continues to look at deals across the country.
