What Sverica Capital Management buys

Sverica Capital Management is a growth-focused private equity firm with offices in Boston and San Francisco. It invests in four areas: technology, business services, healthcare and advanced industrial companies. In practice its recent deals lean toward software, IT services and cybersecurity, such as Raken (field software for contractors), Zyston (managed security) and FOUR (which helps tech vendors sell to government buyers). It often takes a majority stake, keeps the existing CEO in charge, puts its own partners on the board and reinvests in growth.

Sverica reports $2.2 billion of committed capital since it started. Its sixth fund closed at a $750 million hard cap in March 2023 and is aimed at the lower end of the middle market, meaning companies worth up to about $250 million. The firm does not publish revenue or EBITDA minimums. It is most relevant to an owner of a growing, profitable software, IT services or healthcare business who wants a partner to fund the next stage rather than a buyer for an outright exit.

Greymont’s take

How Sverica Capital Management fits a seller

Sverica suits owners of software, IT services and managed security companies who want to keep running the business and grow it with outside capital. In its recent deals the CEO stayed in charge and Sverica partners joined the board, as at Raken in September 2025, FOUR in September 2024 and Zyston in July 2023. The firm has also been a busy seller: between September 2025 and May 2026 it announced sales of Med First, Coastal, Defy Security and WinWire, including Coastal to Tata Consultancy Services for $700 million, so a large strategic buyer is a common next owner.

Because Sverica invests through funds raised from outside investors and its record shows regular sales, an owner should ask what share of the company the firm wants, how much equity the owner keeps, and how long Sverica expects to hold before the next sale, since a rolled stake pays out at that exit.

Questions owners ask

Does Sverica invest in IT services and managed security companies?

Yes. It backed Zyston, a managed detection and response provider, in July 2023 and FOUR, which helps technology vendors sell to government buyers, in September 2024. It has also sold IT services firms Coastal and WinWire and agreed to sell Defy Security to Booz Allen Hamilton in February 2026.

How big a company does Sverica buy?

Its sixth fund, a $750 million pool that closed in March 2023, targets lower middle market companies with enterprise values of up to $250 million. Sverica does not publish a minimum revenue or EBITDA figure.

Does the CEO stay on after Sverica invests?

In its recent announcements, yes. At Raken, Zyston, FOUR and First Stop Health the existing chief executive kept running the company, and Sverica partners took seats on the board as part of the deal.
