What StoneTree Investment Partners buys
StoneTree Investment Partners is a Dallas private equity firm started in 2021 by former operators, engineers and investors. It buys control of niche manufacturers and industrial companies based in the U.S. or Canada with $40 million to $200 million of revenue, up to $15 million of EBITDA, at least 80 employees and a total deal value of up to $125 million. Sellers range from founding families to corporations, lenders and other investors. It wants a sound core business with a realistic organic path to about twice its current EBITDA. Target fields run from capital equipment, building products and metals to aerospace and defense, industrial distribution and environmental services.
The firm manages about $200 million, including its $155 million first fund, which closed in July 2024. It owns four companies: Power Test and Viking Engineering, bought before the fund, and Reel Power International and Wilbar Group, bought from Fund I. Each makes equipment or products and has $50 million to $75 million of revenue, so StoneTree is a buyer for established, mid-sized manufacturers rather than small shops.

Greymont’s take
How StoneTree Investment Partners fits a seller
StoneTree suits a founder or family that owns an established manufacturer with at least 80 employees and wants a buyer that brings operating help along with capital. Its team includes engineers plus outside lean and supply chain advisors, and each company works from a written improvement plan the firm calls a Business Transformation Agenda. In September 2025 it teamed up with the nonprofit Ownership Works to start broad employee ownership programs at its companies, which matters to owners who want their workers to gain from a sale. Wilbar Group, a family business since 1961, sold to StoneTree in November 2025.
Because StoneTree takes control and invests from a fund, an owner should ask how long it expects to hold the company, what role current leaders will keep, and how the employee ownership awards pay out when StoneTree later sells.
