What Owner Resource Group buys

Owner Resource Group (ORG) is an Austin private equity firm founded in 2008 by three people who came from family businesses. It invests in manufacturing, distribution and business services companies with roughly $5 million to $20 million or more of EBITDA. Typical situations are owners who want a full or partial exit, companies going through a transition, and management teams that want to own more of the business. Its recent platforms include precision machining, paper tube manufacturing, commercial vehicle upfitting, apartment locating and behavioral health.

ORG usually buys a majority stake through a recapitalization. The founders sell control but keep a meaningful share and keep running the company, which gives them a second payout when ORG later sells. ORG then funds growth through new locations, equipment and add-on acquisitions, such as Alliance Fleet's January 2026 purchase of Vital Truck & Van. It does not publish a fund size. A company below its EBITDA range is most likely to fit as an add-on to one of its ten current partner companies.

Greymont’s take

How Owner Resource Group fits a seller

ORG suits a founder who wants to take money off the table but stay involved and keep part of the upside. Its recent deals follow one pattern: at Bear Paper Tube, Acme Industries and Smart City Locating, the founders or managers kept meaningful ownership and kept leading the business. ORG also tends to widen ownership inside the company; at US Med-Equip, 24 employees joined a management ownership plan.

ORG does sell its companies, as it did with Bill Gosling Outsourcing in March 2026, so an owner who rolls equity should ask about the expected holding period and how the next sale would be run. The firm is clear about size, so an owner with less than $5 million of EBITDA should ask whether one of ORG's current companies, such as Alliance Fleet, could take them on as an add-on.

Questions owners ask

What size company does Owner Resource Group look for?

ORG targets businesses with roughly $5 million to $20 million or more of EBITDA in manufacturing, distribution and business services, including owners seeking a full or partial exit.

Does the owner keep a stake after ORG invests?

Usually. In its 2025 and 2026 recapitalizations of Bear Paper Tube, Acme Industries and Smart City Locating, the founders or management team kept meaningful ownership and continued to run the company.

Does ORG invest in healthcare?

Yes, although it is outside its three stated sectors. It backed Purpose Healing Center, an Arizona addiction and mental health treatment provider, in December 2024 and launched Purpose Behavioral Health Group around it in May 2026.

Has ORG sold any companies recently?

Yes. ORG's affiliates sold Bill Gosling Outsourcing, a customer contact and receivables outsourcing company they bought into in 2020, to Frontenac in a deal that closed on March 23, 2026.
