What Northlane Capital Partners buys

Northlane Capital Partners is a Bethesda, Maryland private equity firm that invests in niche healthcare and business services companies in North America. Its published range for a new platform is $5 million to $30 million of EBITDA, or $50 million to $350 million of enterprise value, with $25 million to $150 million of equity per deal. It buys mainly from founders and smaller institutional owners, and it favors outsourced services with recurring revenue, steady demand and strong cash flow. Areas it names include lab services, behavioral health, healthcare IT, pharma services, insurance agencies, legal services, training and certification, and software and tech-enabled services.

Northlane grows each company through acquisitions and says it has completed more than 80 add-ons. It sets no minimum size for an add-on. It closed Fund III at $750 million in October 2025. A company under $5 million of EBITDA is most likely to meet Northlane as an add-on to a current platform such as Choice Financial Group, Stellar Public Adjusting or USDTL, each of which lists the add-ons it wants on the firm's portfolio page.

Greymont’s take

How Northlane Capital Partners fits a seller

Northlane suits founders of healthcare or business services companies with at least $5 million of EBITDA who want help buying competitors. The firm says it often acts as the corporate development team for its companies, and its portfolio CEOs describe add-ons closing soon after Northlane arrived. It has bought from founders who leave at closing, founders who stay on as CEO, and owners in between, so a seller has room to shape their own role.

Smaller owners of insurance agencies, public adjusting firms, toxicology labs, court technology or fundraising training businesses should read the add-on criteria on each portfolio page, since Northlane sets no minimum size for add-ons. Owners should also ask how long Northlane expects to hold the platform and what happens to rolled equity at the next sale. Its 2024 sale of PAR Excellence Systems left Northlane and management as continuing investors.
