What LDR Partners buys
LDR Partners is a Houston private equity firm started by three former U.S. Army officers. It buys control of small and mid-sized North American manufacturers owned by founders, families or employees, and it builds each one into a larger group through add-on deals. Its stated range is $1 million to $10 million of EBITDA for a new platform and $1 million to $5 million for an add-on. Target areas include aerospace and defense, process and thermal controls, heavy equipment and attachments, construction and building materials, metal machining and fabrication, plastics, specialty chemicals and automotive parts.
LDR does buyouts and recapitalizations and closed its first institutional fund in early 2026. It has four platforms: Active Thermal Solutions (heavy-duty radiators and heat exchangers), Industrial Control Solutions (sensors and controls), ATI Group Holdings (loader attachments) and Mustang Motorcycle Seats. A smaller manufacturer is most likely to meet LDR as an add-on to one of those groups, which have bought five companies since early 2025.

Greymont’s take
How LDR Partners fits a seller
LDR fits the owner of a family or founder-run manufacturing company, often in a niche such as controls, cooling equipment or machinery attachments, who wants a full sale and cares about keeping the team intact. The firm says it does not cut trusted staff to dress a company up for a quick resale, and its deals show sellers staying on: the former owners of Load Controls, Duro-Sense and Modern Instrument each stayed as advisors, and Active Radiator's second-generation owner became CEO of the combined platform.
Most recent deals were add-ons, so a sale often means joining one of LDR's existing groups and its CEO. Owners should ask whether their company would be a new platform or an add-on, what role they would hold, and how long LDR expects to keep the business, since it now invests from an institutional fund.
