What Centre Partners buys

Centre Partners, founded in 1986 with offices in New York and Los Angeles, buys control of North American middle market companies, mostly consumer and healthcare businesses. On the consumer side it looks at food and beverage, residential and commercial services, household and personal care products, and multi-unit franchises. In healthcare it targets outsourced services for health plans and providers, regulatory and clinical compliance services, physician practice management, behavioral health, and health and wellness. The firm reports about $2.8 billion of equity invested across 93 platform companies and more than 175 add-ons, and it says founder and family owned companies are a particular strength.

Centre does not publish revenue or EBITDA ranges or fund sizes. Much of its recent work is buy-and-build: United Land Services (Southeast landscaping) has made 25 acquisitions since 2020, and TruTemp launched in 2025 to roll up HVAC, plumbing and electrical services in the Southeast. In 2026 it added a vehicle for independent sponsor deals. Smaller owners usually meet Centre as an add-on to one of its platforms.

Greymont’s take

How Centre Partners fits a seller

Centre fits owners of consumer brands, food producers, home and commercial service companies and health plan service firms who want a control buyer that keeps building through acquisitions. Founder and family owners without a successor are a stated focus, and Centre can draw on about 50 operating partners to find a chief executive when one is needed. Owners often stay and invest: Maynor's president put his own money into TruTemp and leads it, and Medical Research Network kept its founder as CEO after joining The IMA Group in 2025.

Centre can hold companies for many years; several current holdings date to 2017 or earlier. An owner rolling equity should ask where the business sits in the fund's life and what a likely exit looks like. Landscaping, roofing and HVAC owners should also ask whether they would be a new platform or an add-on, since that shapes both price and role.

Questions owners ask

Does Centre Partners buy landscaping, roofing or HVAC companies?

Yes. Residential and commercial services is one of its consumer focus areas. It formed United Land Services, a Southeast landscaping platform, in 2020, owns Quick Roofing, and launched TruTemp in HVAC, plumbing and electrical services in September 2025.

What kind of healthcare companies does Centre invest in?

Mainly services businesses: outsourced work for health plans and providers, regulatory and clinical compliance, physician practice management, behavioral health and wellness. Current holdings include The IMA Group, which keeps adding clinical research sites, and Alerion Advisors, a group of health plan consulting firms.

Does Centre work with independent sponsors?

Yes. Its September 2026 Navajo Expedited release describes Centre Strategic Solutions I, a new vehicle for backing independent sponsor deals in the lower middle market, which helped fund that acquisition alongside Altivare Capital Partners.

Does the owner stay after Centre invests?

Often. Centre says it offers founder and family businesses ways to handle ownership transition and succession, and when it launched TruTemp in 2025, the president of Maynor Service Company invested alongside Centre and now leads the combined company.
