What Broad Sky Partners buys

Broad Sky Partners is a New York private equity firm that launched in late 2021. It backs middle market companies that provide essential services, and it picks targets by theme within a set list of sectors: professional services, IT and tech services, infrastructure services, commercial and facility services, testing and inspection, residential services, media services, and distribution and logistics. Its strategy page lists a target equity check of $50 million to $250 million, a focus on North America, and both control deals and strategic minority stakes.

By the time of its first exit in August 2026, the firm said it had made seven platform investments and 23 add-ons. Current platforms include Thomas Scientific in lab supply distribution, Frontline Managed Services in managed IT for law firms, Commonwealth Electrical Technologies in commercial electrical work in the Northeast, and Punctual Pros in residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical service. With checks that size, a typical founder-owned business is more likely to meet Broad Sky as an add-on to one of these platforms, as Horvath Home Services and NuWave Energy Solutions did.

Greymont’s take

How Broad Sky Partners fits a seller

Broad Sky suits owners of services businesses, especially managed IT, electrical and home services, and professional services, who want a sponsor that will pay for acquisitions. Its first exit shows the model: in about three and a half years, Smith + Howard grew from one Atlanta office to 11 locations through nine acquisitions, with revenue up nearly four times, before a sale to TPG. Most owners will meet the firm through a platform, as the owner of Horvath Home Services did when his franchise group joined Punctual Pros in December 2024 and gained access to more training and marketing support. An owner selling to a platform should ask whether they can roll equity and how that stake is treated when Broad Sky sells. An owner of a larger company should ask whether the firm wants control or a minority position.

Questions owners ask

How large an investment does Broad Sky Partners make?

Its strategy page lists a target equity check of $50 million to $250 million, with a focus on North America. That points to larger middle market companies for new platforms, while smaller businesses usually join as add-ons.

Does Broad Sky Partners invest in IT services companies?

Yes. In December 2024 it invested in Frontline Managed Services, which provides managed IT and revenue cycle services to more than 800 law firms. Its strategy page also names IT and tech services as one of its sectors.

Has Broad Sky Partners sold any companies?

Its first exit was the August 2026 sale of Smith + Howard, an Atlanta accounting and advisory firm, to TPG. Broad Sky says revenue grew nearly four times during its ownership, helped by nine acquisitions.

Does Broad Sky buy home services companies?

Yes. In 2024 it invested in Punctual Pros, a Central Pennsylvania operator of One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and Mister Sparky franchises, which added Horvath Home Services in New Jersey that December.
