What Wind Point Partners buys

Wind Point Partners is a Chicago firm, founded in 1984, that buys majority stakes in established North American companies with $10 million to $90 million of EBITDA at the time it invests. It works in three areas: business services (engineering and professional services, logistics and route-based services, maintenance, and fire and security), consumer products (food, household and pet) and industrial products (specialty chemicals and materials, engineered products and packaging). It partners with family and founder-owned businesses as well as corporate carve-outs and companies owned by other investors.

Every deal comes with executives from its Executive Advisor Partner program, often as CEO or board chair, and a plan built on organic growth and add-ons. The firm counts more than 95 platforms and 450 add-ons, reported about $9 billion of assets under management at mid-2026, and closed its $3.2 billion Fund XI in July 2026. Companies below its size range can still sell to Wind Point as add-ons, which it says can be any size or location.

Greymont’s take

How Wind Point Partners fits a seller

Wind Point fits owners of established companies who want a mostly cash sale and a partner that can supply senior leadership. Its owner FAQ says most deals are paid in cash with most of the money at closing, that sellers often keep a stake, and that a typical process takes three to six months. It is a strong option when a founder wants to step back and the business needs a new CEO, because the firm draws on its network of advisor executives for senior roles. At ExperiGreen, for example, the founder stayed on as president while a new CEO joined.

Most owners below $10 million of EBITDA will meet Wind Point through an add-on to a platform such as Turf Masters Brands, ECI, Pavion or Smart Care. Questions to ask: who from its executive network would join the board or management, and how will any rollover be structured for tax deferral?

Questions owners ask

Does Wind Point Partners buy IT managed services companies?

Yes. In August 2026 it partnered with Eze Castle Integration, a cybersecurity, cloud and IT managed services provider founded in 1995 that serves financial services, insurance and manufacturing clients. Wind Point said it plans to grow ECI through organic initiatives and acquisitions.

How large does a company need to be for Wind Point?

New platforms have $10 million to $90 million of EBITDA at the initial investment. Add-on acquisitions for its existing companies can be any size and in any location, and the firm says all of its active companies are seeking add-ons.

How does Wind Point structure a purchase?

It seeks majority ownership in every deal. Its owner FAQ says most acquisitions are all cash with most proceeds paid at closing, sellers often keep a stake that it tries to make a tax-deferred rollover, and a typical process lasts three to six months.

Does Wind Point buy lawn care companies?

Yes. It bought ExperiGreen Lawn Care in January 2025 and combined it with Turf Masters Brands in December 2025, creating a residential lawn care business with nearly 400,000 customers in 16 states and two Canadian provinces.
