What Access Holdings buys
Access Holdings is a Baltimore investment firm, founded in 2013 and managing about $2.3 billion, that builds platforms in essential service industries. It chooses a market first through its own research and then seeks out founder-led companies it wants to own, rather than waiting for businesses that are up for sale. A new platform usually starts with more than $5 million and less than $20 million of EBITDA, and Access plans about $200 million of equity per platform as it scales each one toward $80 million to $100 million or more. It favors fragmented markets with steady, recurring demand and room to cluster locations.
Current platforms include Spotless Brands in express car washes, Reliable Towing in towing and roadside service, Zeus Fire and Security, Cisco Equipment in heavy equipment rental, WagWay in pet care and Gateway in pet aftercare. Access reports more than 250 add-on acquisitions, so a smaller owner is most likely to meet it as an add-on to one of these platforms or to a newer build such as its Palmetto National paving partnership in the Southeast.

Greymont’s take
How Access Holdings fits a seller
Access fits owners of multi-site or route-based service businesses in one of its chosen themes, especially car washes, towing, fire and security, equipment rental, paving and pet services. It often finds companies through its own market research rather than through brokers, so an owner may hear from Access or one of its platforms directly. When Spotless Brands bought Pete's Express Car Wash, members of the founding Altringer family stayed on as key partners, and the six sites moved to the Flagship Carwash brand.
That rebranding is typical of how Access builds platforms: shared systems, a common brand and fast integration. Owners should ask whether their name and team will survive the integration, how much of the price comes as rolled equity, and how close the platform is to its own sale, since Access sold its student transportation platform about four years after launching it.
Questions owners ask
Does Access Holdings buy car wash or towing companies?
Yes. Its Spotless Brands platform runs more than 220 car washes and bought Pete's Express Car Wash in Philadelphia in November 2025. In August 2026 Access took control of Reliable Towing, a towing and roadside services platform in the Pacific Northwest.
What size business does Access Holdings look for?
For a new platform it looks for more than $5 million and less than $20 million of EBITDA, with about $200 million of equity planned per platform. Smaller companies usually join as add-ons; Access reports more than 250 add-on acquisitions.
How does Access Holdings find companies?
It builds a research-based view of a market first and then approaches businesses it wants to own, rather than relying mainly on intermediaries. Recent examples are partnerships to build a Southeast paving platform with Palmetto Corporation and aviation maintenance platforms with G2 Equity Partners.
What is Access Holdings' latest fund?
Access Holdings Fund II closed in 2023 with $525 million, above its $500 million target, plus $280 million raised for Fund II co-investments. Its first fund closed at about $340 million.
