What Strattam Capital buys

Strattam Capital is an Austin private equity firm, founded in 2014, that invests in founder-led B2B software and technology companies, mostly vertical software. Its stated criteria are $5 million to $30 million of recurring revenue, strong organic growth with positive EBITDA, enterprise values up to $150 million and room for add-on acquisitions. Its 2024 fund announcement put its equity investments at $20 million to $60 million. Current holdings range from freight audit, inventory planning and hospitality procurement software to CloudHesive, an AWS consulting and managed services firm.

Strattam usually takes a majority stake, as it did with PurchasePlus in April 2026, and founders often keep equity alongside it. Before signing, the firm and the founder agree on a Five-Point Plan that sets the main priorities for the investment. Its third fund closed at $308 million in April 2024, which the firm said brought assets under management above $1 billion. Its companies buy smaller businesses regularly, with four add-on deals announced between September and November 2025, so a company below the size range may fit as an add-on.

Greymont’s take

How Strattam Capital fits a seller

Strattam fits founders who have grown a profitable B2B software company to roughly $5 million to $30 million of recurring revenue and want a hands-on partner. Its Five-Point Plan means the owner and the firm agree on the main growth moves before any binding commitment, and the firm says it shares its diligence findings with the founder. Expect a majority sale in most cases, with the founder keeping a stake and Strattam's team helping with hiring, AI-enabled products and add-on deals.

Most of the portfolio is software, but owners of cloud consulting or managed IT services firms should note CloudHesive, a current holding, and Contegix, a managed hosting company it sold in 2024. Owners should ask whether their deal would be a majority purchase or a growth round, how much equity they would keep, and how earlier exits such as Affinaquest's 2025 sale to Kindsight were run.

Questions owners ask

What size companies does Strattam Capital invest in?

Its criteria call for $5 million to $30 million of recurring revenue, strong organic growth, positive EBITDA and enterprise values up to $150 million. Its April 2024 fund announcement put its equity investments at $20 million to $60 million.

What is Strattam's Five-Point Plan?

It is the firm's pre-signing process. Strattam and the founder agree on the highest-priority initiatives and a detailed plan to carry them out before any binding commitment is made, so both sides know the plan going in.

Does Strattam invest in IT services or managed services companies?

Mostly it buys software, but it led a 2021 growth round in CloudHesive, an AWS consulting and managed services provider that is still a current holding, and it sold Contegix, a managed hosting and Atlassian consulting firm, to Valiantys in 2024.

Does the founder keep a stake after Strattam invests?

Usually. The firm says it invests only in founder-led companies, and its 2021 CloudHesive announcement said founders in most cases keep an equity stake alongside Strattam after the deal.
