What ShoreView Industries buys

ShoreView is a Minneapolis firm, founded in 2002, that backs companies owned by families and entrepreneurs. Its stated target is a business with $20 million to $300 million of revenue and $4 million to $25 million of EBITDA, with an equity check of up to $100 million. It works in niche manufacturing, value-added distribution, business services, residential services, industrial services, and aerospace and defense. Deals can be management-led buyouts, leveraged recapitalizations, minority stakes or carve-outs of corporate divisions.

The firm has raised more than $1.8 billion across five funds, and the latest, a $500 million fund, closed in September 2024. ShoreView has no operating partners and supports management from the board. Each of its three newest platforms, M&Q in 2025, Frham in 2025 and VZE in 2026, was announced with a plan to buy related companies. An owner below the size floor is most likely to meet ShoreView as an add-on to one of those platforms or to an older holding such as Oak or All Surfaces.

Greymont’s take

How ShoreView Industries fits a seller

ShoreView suits owners of established, profitable manufacturing, distribution or business services companies who want to take money off the table without handing the business to strangers on day one. Its case studies describe deals shaped around family needs. In the MDC Interior Solutions recapitalization, the third-generation owners took cash for estate planning while the next generation rolled equity and kept a stake. At Aeronix, an employee ownership group that included an ESOP got liquidity and still kept a large share.

Because ShoreView has no operating partners, the current management team keeps running the company, and most platforms are expected to make acquisitions. Owners should ask how much equity they will be asked to roll, who will lead the company if they plan to step back, and how long ShoreView expects to hold. Cornerstone, sold in 2025, was held about nine years.

Questions owners ask

What size company does ShoreView look for?

Its criteria call for revenue of $20 million to $300 million and EBITDA of $4 million to $25 million, with an equity investment of up to $100 million per company.

Does ShoreView take minority stakes?

Yes. Minority investments are on its list of transaction types, next to management buyouts, leveraged recapitalizations and corporate carve-outs. When it sold control of Aeronix to Tinicum in November 2024, ShoreView kept a significant minority stake.

Will ShoreView bring in its own managers?

ShoreView says it is not an operator and has no operating partners, so it works through the board. Where a leader wanted to step back, it recruited an industry executive as CEO, as it did when it bought the business that became Cornerstone Foodservice Group in 2016.

Does ShoreView buy home service companies?

Residential services is one of its stated focus areas. It currently owns Oak, a Southern Michigan provider of electrical, HVAC and plumbing services, and it previously owned Burton, an HVAC and plumbing company in Omaha that it sold in 2022.
