What Resurgens Technology Partners buys
Resurgens Technology Partners is an Atlanta private equity firm, started in 2016, that buys small software companies. It looks at three kinds of software: specialized or vertical applications, IT infrastructure and developer tools, and data and analytics. Target companies have $5 million to $30 million of revenue, most of it recurring, with proven unit economics, and the firm says it is flexible on current profitability. It looks across North America and Europe. Recent deals include workforce planning, vacation rental operations and supply chain quality software.
Most deals are majority recapitalizations of founder-owned companies, though Resurgens also buys from other investors, does carve-outs and will consider minority growth investments. Its third fund closed at $800 million in August 2024, after earlier funds of more than $200 million and more than $500 million. The firm keeps a small portfolio, 20 platforms across its three funds by its own count, and backs them with a large operating team. Its companies have made 22 add-on acquisitions, so a smaller software business can also fit as an add-on.

Greymont’s take
How Resurgens Technology Partners fits a seller
Resurgens is a natural fit for founders of software companies with $5 million to $30 million of revenue who want to sell a majority stake but keep a piece of the business and stay involved. Its recent platforms show the pattern: Qarma's co-founders keep running the company, and at OrgChart the earlier investor stayed on as a minority holder. The firm puts a large operating team to work on product, hiring, sales and add-on deals, so expect an active owner.
Its exits show more than one path, from selling Verity to TMX Group in 2025 to bringing in LLR Partners alongside it at EnergyCAP in 2026. Owners should ask how much equity they would keep, what the operating team expects to change in the first year, and whether their company would be a new platform or an add-on to an existing one.
Questions owners ask
What size software company does Resurgens look for?
Companies with $5 million to $30 million of revenue, most of it recurring, with proven unit economics. Its current fact sheet says it is flexible on whether the business is profitable today.
Does Resurgens take minority stakes?
Its main focus is majority recapitalizations of founder-owned and investor-backed software companies, but it says it will consider minority growth capital investments and complex situations such as carve-outs.
Do founders stay on after a Resurgens deal?
Often, yes. When Resurgens invested in Qarma in August 2026, the co-founders stayed on as CEO and CTO, and Breezeway's founder remained CEO after the firm led an investment there in March 2026.
Does Resurgens invest outside the United States?
Yes. Its fact sheet covers North America and Europe, and its August 2026 Qarma deal was a Danish company based in Aarhus. Case IQ, a current holding, is based in Ottawa.
