What MCM Capital Partners buys
MCM Capital Partners is a Cleveland-area private equity firm, started in 1992, that buys small manufacturers and distributors. Its current criteria call for $8 million to $50 million of revenue, $1.5 million to $6 million of EBITDA and enterprise values of $10 million to $50 million. On the manufacturing side it wants contract makers of engineered parts for aerospace and defense, medical, industrial and water markets, built with processes such as injection molding, precision machining, rubber molding and composites. On the distribution side it wants business-to-business sellers of must-have repair parts in niches like elevators, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, commercial kitchens and car washes.
MCM takes majority control. Most of its deals are recapitalizations in which the owner keeps a real minority stake, and it also does management buyouts and corporate carve-outs. It invests from MCM Capital Partners IV, a $135 million SBIC fund, and tends to hold companies for six to seven years. AIM Processing, Andover and Tech NH are all looking for add-ons, which gives smaller molders and optics makers another way in.

Greymont’s take
How MCM Capital Partners fits a seller
MCM suits owners of small precision manufacturers, injection molders in particular, and of specialty repair-parts distributors who want to take cash off the table but keep a stake and keep running the company. The firm says most of its deals are recapitalizations where the owner holds on to a significant share, and it expects management to keep running operations after closing. Octex shows the pattern: MCM knew the owner for nearly ten years before buying, and an MCM operating partner now chairs the board.
Holds can run long. Zinkan was owned from 2011 until its 2025 sale, so an owner rolling equity should plan for a multi-year partnership. Two good questions: how much equity the owner keeps after the recap, and what the growth plan looks like, since MCM's approach leans on adding sales and business development help.
Questions owners ask
What size company does MCM Capital Partners buy?
Its current criteria call for $8 million to $50 million of revenue, $1.5 million to $6 million of EBITDA and enterprise values of $10 million to $50 million. Manufacturers should earn gross margins above 30 percent and distributors above 20 percent.
Does the owner keep a stake after MCM invests?
Usually, yes. MCM says the large majority of its deals are leveraged recapitalizations in which the owner sells a majority, keeps a significant minority stake and is freed from personal guarantees, while the management team stays in place.
What has MCM bought recently?
In August 2026 it acquired Octex, a Sarasota, Florida maker of precision plastic parts with a CT scanning and inspection business, as the third platform in its fourth fund. In September 2024 its AIM Processing platform added Technical Molded Products.
