What Lorient Capital buys

Lorient Capital invests only in healthcare. It backs care providers such as urgent care, primary care, hospice and specialty clinic groups; services businesses that support providers and patients; and technology platforms that make care delivery more efficient. It favors complex, labor-heavy businesses with many locations, and it uses two routes: buying founder-led companies, and backing experienced executives who build a company from the ground up. After closing, it installs its own operating system and a data platform called Morpheus across the business.

Lorient looks for $5 million to $25 million of EBITDA at entry, growth of 20 percent or more (or clear ways to get there), and a company taking its first institutional capital. It invests $25 million to $100 million of equity per platform in majority or control deals and expects the seller to roll over a significant stake. It reports about $2.0 billion of assets under management and closed its $500 million Fund III in June 2025. Smaller practices are more likely to join one of its platforms as an add-on.

Greymont’s take

How Lorient Capital fits a seller

Lorient suits the founder of a multi-site healthcare business, such as an urgent care, primary care, home health, hospice, dental or specialty clinic group, who wants capital and hands-on operating help and is ready to keep a large stake. The firm says it expects significant seller rollover, and it is deeply involved in the first months after closing while it rolls out its standard routines and data tools.

That level of involvement suits an owner who wants more structure, but it may feel heavy to one who prefers to run things their own way. When Lorient sold Behavior Frontiers to NexPhase Capital in May 2025, less than five years after investing, the founder and leadership team stayed in place. An owner should ask how much equity Lorient expects them to roll, which operating changes come in the first year, and whether the deal would be a founder buyout or part of an executive-led platform.

Questions owners ask

What size healthcare company does Lorient Capital invest in?

Its model page lists $5 million to $25 million of EBITDA at entry and $25 million to $100 million of equity per platform, usually for majority or control ownership, in companies taking institutional capital for the first time.

Does Lorient invest outside healthcare?

No. The firm describes itself as focused only on healthcare, covering care providers, services businesses that support the healthcare system and healthcare technology platforms. Its current holdings include urgent care, primary care, hospice, dental and aesthetics businesses.

Will I keep a stake if I sell to Lorient?

Expect to. Lorient lists significant seller rollover as one of its requirements, along with a leadership team that is willing to adopt its operating system and work closely with its embedded operating team.
