What Lee Equity Partners buys
Lee Equity Partners is a New York private equity firm, founded in 2006, that invests in just two sectors: financial services and healthcare services. On the financial side it backs wealth managers and financial advisors, insurance brokers and insurance services, accounting and advisory firms, employee benefits and retirement businesses, and tech-enabled services. On the healthcare side it looks at behavioral health, physician practice platforms, post-acute and senior services, payor and employer services, and infusion and pharmacy services. Deals start from investment themes the team develops ahead of time, and the firm counts more than 250 platform and add-on investments since it began.
Its current fund, Fund IV, closed at about $1.3 billion in July 2024. Lee Equity does not publish revenue or EBITDA limits. It often takes majority stakes, as with Cooper Parry and Shackleton, but describes its style as a partnership with management rather than tight control. A smaller firm is most likely to meet Lee Equity as an add-on, for example a wealth manager joining Pure Financial Advisors or a cardiology group joining Cardiovascular Logistics.

Greymont’s take
How Lee Equity Partners fits a seller
Lee Equity suits owners of financial advice, insurance, accounting and healthcare services businesses who want a sector specialist and expect to keep a role after the deal. Several of its recent platforms were bought from other private equity firms, such as Cooper Parry from Waterland and Shackleton from Sovereign, and then grown through acquisitions. That makes the add-on route the likeliest path for a smaller seller. Fairhaven Wealth Management joined Pure Financial Advisors in April 2025, and the owners of JT Insurance stayed on in leadership roles after joining Axis Insurance.
Physician groups can look at the Cardiovascular Logistics model, where a practice joins a physician-led national platform and says it keeps its independence. Owners should ask how much equity they can roll over, who leads the business afterward, and how long Lee tends to hold. McLarens, for example, was held almost seven years before its 2025 recapitalization into Fund IV.
Questions owners ask
What sectors does Lee Equity invest in?
Only two: financial services and healthcare services. Recent deals include wealth managers in the US and UK, a UK accounting firm, a Bermuda specialty insurance agency and a healthcare policy advisory firm.
Does Lee Equity invest outside the United States?
Yes. Its portfolio covers North America and Europe, and recent platforms include Cooper Parry and Shackleton in the United Kingdom, Axis Insurance in Canada and Arcadian Risk Capital in Bermuda. Most of its active companies are still US-based.
Does Lee Equity buy smaller companies as add-ons?
Yes. Its portfolio companies add firms regularly. In April 2025 Pure Financial Advisors bought Fairhaven Wealth Management, which had nearly $900 million of client assets, and Cardiovascular Logistics added Cardiology Consultants of Philadelphia the same month.
Do management teams stay after Lee Equity invests?
Usually. In the September 2026 Marwood Group deal the existing executive team stayed on beside a new CEO, and at Arcadian Risk Capital the management team and employees kept a significant ownership stake.
