What Charlesbank Capital Partners buys
Charlesbank Capital Partners began in 1998 as a spin-out from Harvard University's endowment and works from offices in Boston and New York. It reports $24.7 billion of total assets across its private equity and credit strategies as of June 30, 2026, and lists its current private equity fund at about $4.1 billion. The private equity team is split into four sector groups: business and consumer services, healthcare, industrials and technology. Its holdings include an HOA management platform (Ventura Community Partners), a managed network services provider (Spectrotel), an accounting firm (Aprio), an insurance broker (World Insurance Associates), a dental partnership group (MB2 Dental) and an HVAC and plumbing company (American Residential Services).
Charlesbank aims for companies worth $150 million to $3 billion. It usually takes control but will accept a significant minority stake, and it names founder-led companies, first institutional money and growth financings among the deals it likes. A smaller owner is most likely to meet Charlesbank through one of its platforms, which grow by acquisition, or through Rise Growth Partners, which takes minority stakes in wealth advisory firms.

Greymont’s take
How Charlesbank Capital Partners fits a seller
Charlesbank is a large buyer, so few owners will sell straight to the firm. The usual path is a sale to one of its platforms. Ventura Community Partners, formed in late 2024 around CCMC, partners with HOA management companies across the country and says it helps them keep their local identity while adding capital, technology and shared services. American Residential Services, World Insurance Associates, Aprio and MB2 Dental can play a similar role in HVAC, insurance brokerage, accounting and dental.
Many of these platforms have since taken in new investors, as MB2 did with Warburg Pincus and Lido did with HPS. An owner who takes equity in the buyer should ask how long Charlesbank expects to hold the platform, what the next sale could look like, and how much local control the business keeps after closing.
Questions owners ask
Does Charlesbank buy HOA or community association management companies?
Yes. In November 2024 it invested in CCMC, a community association manager founded in 1973, and formed a parent company now called Ventura Community Partners, which partners with HOA management firms across the US and serves more than 1,000 communities.
How large are the companies Charlesbank invests in?
Its private equity criteria call for enterprise values between $150 million and $3 billion. Smaller businesses usually meet Charlesbank as add-on acquisitions by companies it already owns.
Will Charlesbank take a minority stake?
Yes. It says it usually takes control but is open to significant minority investments, and its Rise Growth Partners platform has taken minority stakes in wealth managers such as Grimes & Company in 2025 and Cyndeo Wealth Partners in 2026.
Does Charlesbank invest in IT services companies?
Yes. Its technology team targets IT and cloud services and cyber services. Current holdings include Spectrotel, which merged with AireSpring in September 2026 to build a managed network services provider, and Bridgepointe Technologies, an IT advisory platform.
