What KLH Capital buys
KLH Capital is a Tampa private equity firm, founded in 2005, that invests in lower middle market companies with roughly $4 million to $20 million or more of EBITDA anywhere in the United States. It sticks to three business models: value-added distribution, specialty services (field, crew and technician-based work such as industrial maintenance, concrete restoration and utility construction) and niche manufacturing. It takes majority or minority stakes through recapitalizations, management buyouts, family successions and growth capital, and it says it is comfortable with complicated cases such as split ownership or heavy customer concentration.
Its current fund is the $400 million Fund V, closed in June 2023. In a typical KLH deal the owner takes cash off the table, key managers get real equity, and management keeps running the business day to day. Smaller companies usually meet KLH as add-ons: Thorpe Specialty Services, Miller Integrated Solutions, eTech, Marek and ElectriCom have all bought businesses since mid-2025.

Greymont’s take
How KLH Capital fits a seller
KLH fits owners who want to sell some or all of their stake while handing the company to the managers who already run it. Its deals are built around that idea: the retiring or majority owner gets liquidity, key managers become owners, and KLH adds capital for growth and acquisitions. The September 2025 Artmark buyout is a good example, since the selling president wanted his team to become owners.
It is a natural buyer for industrial service contractors, environmental and remediation firms, and specialty distributors with about $4 million of EBITDA or more. Smaller firms in those fields are more likely to join an existing platform such as Thorpe, Miller or eTech. An owner should ask how much equity goes to the management team, whether personal guarantees come off at closing, and how long KLH expects to hold the business.
Questions owners ask
What size company does KLH Capital buy?
KLH targets companies with about $4 million to $20 million or more of EBITDA. The June 2023 announcement of its $400 million Fund V described the same range.
Does KLH Capital buy environmental services companies?
Yes. It owns eTech Environmental & Safety Solutions, a Permian Basin remediation and compliance firm, and Miller Integrated Solutions, which added two industrial environmental and waste firms, EDI and Environmental Evolutions National, in deals announced in January 2026.
Can the owner keep a stake after KLH invests?
Yes. KLH makes minority as well as majority investments, and many of its recapitalizations give existing owners partial liquidity while key managers receive equity. Its ElectriCom investment, for example, is a minority recapitalization.
