What Blue Point Capital Partners buys

Blue Point Capital Partners is a Cleveland firm, founded in 2000, with more offices in Charlotte and Seattle. It buys lower middle market companies in three broad areas: industrial (niche manufacturing, aerospace parts, auto aftermarket and distribution), business services (environmental, facility, infrastructure and trade services) and consumer products. A new platform should have $30 million to $300 million of revenue and more than $5 million of EBITDA. Most deals are control recapitalizations of family-owned or closely held companies, management buyouts, or investments that fund growth and acquisitions, and Blue Point likes to be the first outside investor.

The firm reports over $1.8 billion of committed capital, and its newest platforms, Restoration Systems in 2025 and Dumpsters.com in 2026, came from its fifth fund. Add-ons have no EBITDA minimum, and the firm does many of them: National Safety Apparel made six after Blue Point bought it in 2024. A smaller company is most likely to meet Blue Point as an add-on to a platform such as Pinnacle MEP, Restoration Systems or Dumpsters.com.

Greymont’s take

How Blue Point Capital Partners fits a seller

Blue Point fits owners of family-run industrial, trade services or environmental services businesses, especially in the Midwest and Southeast near its Cleveland and Charlotte offices, who want to sell control but keep a real stake. Its recaps are set up so sellers can stay owners, and leaders often stay in place: the second-generation owner of Restoration Systems kept running the company after the April 2025 deal.

The firm says its average hold is about five years, and recent exits fit that pattern, with Stax sold after four years and Country Pure Foods after six. When it sold Sylvan in 2025, Blue Point rolled part of its own stake into the buyer's deal. Owners should ask how much equity they will be expected to roll, and what the exit plan looks like for that rolled stake.

Questions owners ask

Does Blue Point buy waste or environmental services companies?

Yes. In August 2026 it recapitalized Dumpsters.com, a Westlake, Ohio company that arranges roll-off dumpster rentals and site services through a national hauler network. It also owns TAS Environmental Services, an environmental and industrial services provider in the southwest US.

Is there a minimum size for a Blue Point deal?

For a new platform it looks for $30 million to $300 million of revenue and more than $5 million of EBITDA. For add-on acquisitions to companies it already owns, the firm says there is no EBITDA minimum.

Can the owner keep a stake after selling to Blue Point?

Often, yes. The firm says its recapitalizations of family-owned and closely held companies give sellers cash while leaving room for continued ownership, and it prefers to be the first outside equity in a business.

How long does Blue Point usually own a company?

The firm says its average hold is about five years. Recent exits include Stax, first backed in October 2021 and sold to Grant Thornton Advisors in September 2025, and Country Pure Foods, owned from 2019 until December 2025.
