What Arlington Capital Partners buys
Arlington Capital Partners is a Washington, D.C. firm founded in 1999 that invests in companies that sell to, or are regulated by, government. It works in three main areas: defense and aerospace, government technology and services, and healthcare. It has raised more than $14 billion in total and closed its seventh fund, Arlington Capital Partners VII, at $6.0 billion in October 2025. Arlington buys control of a platform and then grows it through add-on acquisitions, and it also makes majority growth investments, as it did with Boston-area research firm CBSET in 2025. It does not publish revenue or EBITDA ranges.
Most smaller sellers meet Arlington through a platform. TRP Infrastructure Services, its roadway marking and traffic control company, bought Highway Barricades & Services, Striping Technology and five more Central and Southeast U.S. firms between December 2025 and August 2026. Owners of government IT, analytics or engineering firms are likely to hear from Quantum Sky (formerly Tyto Athene), Systems Planning & Analysis or ENERCON.

Greymont’s take
How Arlington Capital Partners fits a seller
Arlington fits founders whose customers are government agencies, defense contractors or healthcare manufacturers and who want a buyer that already understands contracting and regulation. Its strategy page says it starts building relationships with owners well before a deal, and that it tries to give the most long-term value to founders who keep equity in the combined company. Recent add-ons match that: when TRP bought five companies in August 2026, each founder joined TRP and kept leading the business, and Striping Technology's owner sold after 50 years in the industry.
Arlington also sells regularly, often to large strategic buyers such as Novanta, TransDigm, Michelin and AeroVironment. An owner who rolls equity should ask how and when the platform is expected to be sold, and what role they would have until then.
Questions owners ask
Does Arlington buy government IT contractors?
Yes. Government services and technology is one of its core areas. Its federal systems integrator Tyto Athene, now Quantum Sky, bought cyber compliance and cloud firm stackArmor in May 2025, and in August 2025 Arlington formed Neumo by merging Avenu Insights & Analytics with ITI and buying GovOS.
Do founders stay involved after Arlington buys their company?
Often. Its strategy page says it aims to reward founders who keep equity in the combined business. When TRP bought five roadway services companies in August 2026, the founder of each joined TRP and continued to lead business activities.
How large is Arlington's current fund?
Arlington closed Arlington Capital Partners VII at $6.0 billion in October 2025, above its $4.75 billion target. The first platform from that fund was Pond & Company, a design and engineering firm acquired in January 2026.
Who does Arlington sell its companies to?
Recent buyers have mostly been large strategic companies. Novanta agreed to buy Riverpoint Medical in June 2026, TransDigm agreed to buy Stellant Systems for $960 million, Michelin agreed to buy Tex-Tech Industries, and AeroVironment completed its purchase of BlueHalo in May 2025.
